You should have added ph UP and probably alkalinity up. Once your ph is up your chlorine will get absorbed.
Bring the water to get tested and see how much you need of each item.

We went through this for 2 yeaars and 2 years ago we switched to salt water and it has been maintenance free since.

I agree with PP. Alkalinity and pH are the key to a pool. get Alkalinity in range, and everything else should follow.

This year I had a green pool because we didn't powervac quickly enough after opeining our pool. I ended up have to use algeside and then a pool clarifier, and it cleared up perfectly. So many reasons for a green pool. Bring sample to store for advice.

Re: Pool water is green

It's most likely algea. Go have your water tested. Is you pump strong enough? What about your vaccuum?

We have an easy set pool as well.. I have found that the ONLY thing to get rid of the green is some bleach! We have the smallest one...the 8 foot one...and we just get a small bleach container...pour it in with the filter going... and 30 mins later it's clean as can be! We don't go in it till the next day tho. Gets rid of all slime too.

I agree, shock and a algaecide will kill the algae but you will have to vacuum it up

Yes bleach is actually one of the worst things you can add to your pool!

I've had this pool for 2 years now, and I put a half cup of bleach a week in it and it's fine. If I had a bigger pool it would be different...but this is the only thing that works for this size. I've tried it all. I clean the filter every other week. My sister does it to her 12 foot easy set pool as well...she had hers for 3 years. Thanks tho... I can see how too much can def. be bad for it tho.

Being that you just filled it, that's a lot of "organic" (non treated water) We had a hole in our filter last year and it was awful the amount of times we had to shock it. once you get the chemical levels right, it will be easier to maintain.

I poured bleach in yesterday and still green...so frustrating...but I was wondering what kind of vacuum you use? I have an electric one but can I hook up one to the filter like in a reg above ground pool?

I don't have one actually... but I did see one at big lots made just for these east set pools. It was 20 for the whole kit... a skimmer, vacuum, and an extra filter. I think there were other things too. How much bleach did you use? When I waited 2 weeks for DH to set up the filter for me, it was the darkest green ever...just plain old gross. Once he set it up, I poured a full container of bleach in... turned it lighter green...so I poured another half in, and then in an hour it was clear. I never had any issues with the filter.... still looks brand new.
