Re: Which do you prefer to attend?
I love a good home party however for my shower, I would like it to be out. I dont want my mom to have to work so hard and not enjoy it and if we are at her house, I know she will be busy the entire time.

This is exactly how I feel! I have already explained that to my mom and said that DH and I will foot some of the cost if needed to do it at a resturant.
At my bridal shower my mom and grandma BARELY sat down or mingled and that made me sad for them.

this is exactly what I feel like. maybe I can suggest this. I def have the room for everyone but opening gifts so everyone can see will be hard. there will be enough chairs but it will just be a pain I think. and I really want the person throwing it for me to enjoy the shower too. I feel like at home they may not. I do like the idea of not having to lug everything home, but I want everyone comfortable.

Another option is hire help. There are companies that will come to your house, help set up, prepare food (even bbq!), serve and then clean up. Not sure if this would be cheaper or more $. Just another option.

I prefer it in a restaurant.
Sometimes, someone THINKS they save money by having it in a house, but it really comes out almost the same. PLUS, EVERYONE is a guest at the shower... no one has to worry about serving and cleaning up!
I just had my shower at Captain Bill's in Bay Shore on the water. It was FANTASTIC. It was $32pp, which was lower than other places for what I thought was better food and atmosphere. (Pics are in my album).

Re: Which do you prefer to attend?
I recently hosted my SIL's baby shower in my home. I will NEVER do it again. It was too much work- too many people involved (my MIL, my other SILs, DHs aunts, etc) that didn't do things the way I wanted them done and still cost as much- if not more- in the end than having it at a restaurant would've.
I would casually mention that it might be alot more work for her to do it and why doesn't she just let a restaurant handle everything.
good Luck!
