*Homemade Pop Tarts! Fun :)

I made homemade pop tarts! It was super fun and they came out really cute. I did all different kinds of filling

strawberry preserves
raspberry preserves
peanut butter and jelly
nutella
nutella & mini marshmallows

I used
Sugarcrafter's recipe and then added a glaze and sprinkles.

2 cups flour
1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 sticks unsalted butter, cut into 1? pieces
1 egg
2 Tbsp milk
1 egg + 1/2 Tbsp water (to brush on pastry)

I put the flour, sugar & salt in the food processor to mix. Then I added the cubed butter and pulsed until combined. I whisked the egg & milk together, then added to the dough and pulsed until it became more of a dough. I turned it out on to a floured board and kneaded it until it all came together. Then, I divided it into 2 balls and rolled each one out so I could cut 8 rectangles from each. I filled each with desired filling, then topped with 8 more rectangles and used a fork to seal the edges. I completely forgot to use the egg wash, but they came out pretty nice anyway (and I didn't worry about them being perfectly browned since I was using the glaze). I let them cool on the baking sheet and then on a wire rack. Once cooled, I topped with the glaze and sprinkles (glaze was just confectioner's sugar and milk).

cute!
I'm scared to make them though....my daughter is such a pick eater, I'd hate to put the effort in for her to take one bite and tell me it's "disgusting"!!Chat Icon
