Vomiting
I'm wondering how much do you have to be vomiting before the doctor will put you on medication? Is it normal to vomit every day? Or is it only considered an issue if it's several times a day? I guess the question is how many times a day is it considered normal to vomit during the first trimester?
I had a few dry heaving/wretching spells for the last 3 days or so but this afternoon I vomited and I feel like I can't keep anything down anymore. I'm betting it's only going to get worse since I'm just about 6 weeks now. With my last pregnancy I wasn't this sick this early. I don't want to take any medication while I'm pregnant but I don't know how I'm going to eat and stay hydrated if this keeps up. I'm on the verge of vomiting again. I'm scared!

Re: Vomiting
I feel your pain! I'm 31 weeks now and I threw up every day for the first 5 months. And when I wasn't throwing up, I felt like I was on the verge of throwing up every minute of the day. It was definitely hard to keep anything down. I drank a lot of Gatorade to stay hydrated. I didn't ask my Dr for medication because I was too nervous to take anything. He kept telling me that it would get better, and it definitely did. At 5 months, I just woke up one morning suddenly feeling better...and I haven't thrown up since (knock on wood!) That being said, I have friends who have taken the medication while they were pregnant, and they all have healthy children now. So, do whatever is right for you. Hang in there! Hope you feel better soon!

Re: Vomiting
I vomited every single day from 9 1/2 weeks until 14 weeks. Mostly every morning, but sometimes morning and right after lunch. Then one day I vomited 5 times in one day. That was the last day I threw up when I was pregnant. Although I did almost throw up on the delivery room bed, but that was different.
Try going with very bland stuff. Eat anything that feels good to you. Try tea if you can't stomach water. I lived on toast and mashed potatoes for a while. Saltines too, although sometimes I just threw those up as well. The only thing I could eat for breakfast and keep down was this weird PJ's turkey sausage breakfast burrito. I have no idea why. I ate them every day for weeks! Then one day I couldn't stomach them anymore. I think I still have 3 in the freezer (and this was all like a year ago now).
Hope you feel better! Call the doctor and leave a message for the nurse Tuesday morning. Hopefully you'll even out by then! Hormones do crazy things to our bodies!

Re: Vomiting
I wouldn't be concerned, as much as it sucks. When my M/S was in full swing I was vomiting 2-3x per day, and I never went on medication. As much as it feels like you'll never make it through, you will - I promise. Apple juice helped me because I couldn't keep plain water down.

Re: Vomiting
I always feel like Im goign to throw up but then one day I couldnt even keep a sip of water down and I had to go to the ER for fluids. I got ZOfran that day and I have only had to take it 3 other days.
I suggest getting B6 and try taking that and drink powerade. It actually has b6 in it and it really can help with the horrible feelings.

Re: Vomiting
I threw up a few times a day fr weeks 4 to 6, then numerous times a day up to 12 from 6-8. I saw my ob at 8w and she put me on zofran. I was still nauseous but kept most down. It started to go away at 12 weeks.

Re: Vomiting
I was severely nauseous from the beginning. Lost 5 pounds in 2 months. I asked for Zofran on a recommendation from a friend.. What a life saver. Don't be afraid to ask your ob. It is a safe medication to take. I used it on and off throughout my entire pregnancy...

Re: Vomiting
Thank you for the responses. Today is going better. I'll see how the rest of the week goes. I just know you can end up in the hospital from dehydration if you are vomiting and can't keep any fluid in. If it gets worse I'll talk to the doctor but if it's just about once everyday that I'm vomiting it seems pretty normal.
