Need Name Help
At 34 ½ weeks I am second guessing our boy name. We picked Jace as a first name. It was one of the only names we both liked and agreed on. The middle name is Carmine. Now, my issue is our last name, which is not Italian at all btw so the Carmine is kind of awkward, begins with an S. The s sound at the end of Jace and the S at the beginning of our last name flow together so there’s no separation. So for example, Jace Smith sounds like Jay Smith. I thought about Jacen as a more formal name and Jace could be the nickname, but Jacen sounds too much like Jason and I’m sure it would be misspelled.
The only other name we both agreed on was Jacob. I love the name Jacob and the nickname Jake, but it has been the number one name for the last like 10 years. Having grown up with a popular name myself I really don’t want to use a popular name.
Any suggestions for other boy names that sound ok with Carmine as a middle name? Even though Carmine is Italian, I don’t think an Italian first name will sound good with our last name so those are more than likely out. Help a crazy preggo out!

i wouldn't change your first name because you don't like the way the middle name sounds with your last name? Most people don't use the middle name enough for it to matter unless you plan on pushing it more. I never really used my middle name growing up.

Re: Need Name Help
Go with whatever you love...don't worry too much about popularity. Jacob is on the top of the charts, but I will tell you that DD has been in daycare/preschool for 3 years, and we only know ONE Jacob...and he isn't even in the school, we know him from Church.
You could also use just Jake...similar to Jace, and isn't quite as popular I don't think...
What about Jackson (nn Jack)?

Re: Need Name Help
We have the opposite problem when it comes to names. We are both very Italian with and Italian last name and we don't love any of the Italian first names. We do like Carmine though it's cute.
Would you consider changing the middle name if you feel like it's not flowing? Does the name have significance? If it does I would leave it, middle names are not used that often and if it has a special meaning that goes above having the best flow.
I do like Jace a lot. I agree Jacen does sound like Jason and everyone would think Jason was the name and it would be misspelled. I also agree with PO that Jake is a lot less common then Jacob and does kind of sound like Jace. But if you love Jace I would go with that and not worry so much about the middle name.

I do love Jayden, but DH hates it.
My issue isn't with the middle name at all. I'm fine with Jace Carmine. It's Jace with our last name that is bothering me because the s sound at the end of Jace and the S at the beginning of our last name makes it sound like the first name is Jay instead of Jace.

Oh sorry I was confused. I don't think it sounds bad. I think it really flows nicely. But I do love the name Jackson and I like Jayden and Jake. You have a lot of good options.

Re: Need Name Help
First off, I really like the names your picked! anddddddd their nicknames, which was always an issue with us. Every name I seemed to like I always hated their shortened version (Love Cristiano, hate "Chris" ) So really you can't go wrong with any of them. We had a similar problem picking names too. I loved Liam but it just would NOT go with our last name or with what the kid will probably look like In the end we picked names that fit our last name. It really is just a matter of opinion. Remember MOST of the time LO will not be addressed by his FULL name (unless he is in trouble )
Good luck !!!
