When did you not need maternity clothes?

I know everyone is different, but I was wondering, about how long after giving birth was it unnecessary to wear maternity clothes?

I have a few friends who are pregnant, and I'd love to let them borrow my clothes, but I assume I will still need them for a bit after the baby is born.

I am as small as you (if not smaller) and I left the hospital wearing normal clothes and never wore maternity clothes after giving birth to any of my 3 kids. You look like you won't have that problem either =:)

It was about a month for me. If I had more loose fitting regular clothes it would have been less.

Not too long for me. Right away I wore those clothes I bought in my early pregnancy days - a size or two up but not maternity (some were even too big) or any pre-preggo clothes that were looser fitting. I would say in about 3-4 weeks my jeans and pants fit if they were low rise. My tops are harder - since I wore clothes fitted before I felt like my stretched out tummy or rode up because I was bigger overall on top.

Wow! Good for you girls!! I am jealousChat Icon

For me, I was a size 4 pre-pg and pregnancy did not agree with my body. I gained about 45 lbs, i am about 1 month pp and lost 25lbs, I am still in my maternity pants, shirts are still a tad bit snug cause my waist has to shrink a bit still, but I plan on being in them for the summer. That's a realistic goal for me!

Let's hear from those mommies who weren't a perfect size 4 after they gave birthChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

*raising hand* -- took me a couple of months, but I admit that I was just so darn comfy in my maternity clothes, that I didn't want to give them up!!

I was a size 0 pre-preggo, but Jackson will be a month old tomorrow and I still can't fit into my pants. I'm still wearing my maternity jeans even though I only have 8 lbs to lose.

Re: When did you not need maternity clothes?

I was wearing my prepreggo jeans 11 days after my first baby but he was a vbirth. C-section, a good bit longer b/c of the csection "pouch". I am 12 days post partum right now and feel so stupid in my preggo pants, they're drooping and the front panel is of course now not being covered by a shirt since theres no baby belly holding it up, but I shudder at the idea of trying on any prepreg stuff.

Re: When did you not need maternity clothes?

I'm 5 weeks PP and still wearing my maternity capris. Since I had a c/s I cant wear anything that zips or bottons int he front bc it hurts too much. The capris I wear are panel front. I wear some maternity shirts but only because they're comfy - not bc I have to. I do have to say that I cannot wear my regular clothes yet - I was a size 6 pre-DD and now I'm NOT - Im still 25 lbs heavier than before I was PG. Its hard.

ETA my bottom line is dont lend anything out until you know for sure.

Re: When did you not need maternity clothes?

I refused to wear maternity clothes after giving birth and I didn't. I had a few low rise pants that somehow fit me throughout my entire pg (I carried very high) so I wore those with DH's t-shirts for the first few days or so. Then by 2 weeks I was able to fit into some of my loose tops again. I was no where near being back to pre-pg weight, I just had some clothes around that I was able to fit into.

I wore regular clothes within a week of coming home, but ONLY sweatpants, velour pants, pjs etc. There was no way that denim or any other tight stiff clothing was coming anywhere near that c-section incision! Also I couldn't zipper my regular pants and still be able to breathe for 3 weeks, lol!!!!!!

I wore maternity clothes for about 3-4 weeks after giving birth, if I had to go out and look decent. But at home I was wearing pre-preggo sweats and bigger tops without a problem

Re: When did you not need maternity clothes?

I was back in my pre-preggo clothes about 2-3 weeks PP. Have no clue how i managed that but was definitely pleasantly surprised to see I could wear all my old clothes again. Chat Icon

Re: When did you not need maternity clothes?

I would say a month - but not sure if c/s moms have more trouble...there was no way I was walking out with my prepreggo clothes - they pump you with so many IVs, I only lost 5 pounds when I left.
