Do you NEED a Pack N Play?
Do I need a Pack N Play? Is there anyone out there who survived without one? I am so limited on space and if I could get away without some things that take up so much space, I would love to.
TIA

Re: Do you NEED a Pack N Play?
My baby is only 12 days old but I already feel like I could not live without my pack n play. We have a 2 story house so it is set up downstairs. He loves it. It is great for changing him and for naps.
If you have a single story place I would say you could probably get away without having one.

Re: Do you NEED a Pack N Play?
I have one, and I have never used it....
We are on the ground floor.... so he always slept either in his bassinett, or crib, (or bouncy or swing )
I think I might get some use out of it, at the beach this summer.... but I will see....
Both my mom and MIL have one, and he sleeps in my MIL's when he's there...but dosent sleep in my moms.... (he perfers the couch )
We went out outta state and brought it with us.... but wouldnt sleep in it, and so he slept in our bed....
So as far as him sleeping somewhere else in it... (On vacation, or visiting a family memeber) then its great (Well it would be great if Ryan liked his) but in my house... it will never get opened...

I totally agree... this is how we use ours. My son is 1 and we use it as a play pen when he's downstairs. Luckily my ILs have one at their house too, so we don't have to take ours when he's over there.

Re: Do you NEED a Pack N Play?
I personally would not have gotten one if I had it to do over again. She never really slept in it and I just used the changing part of it for a couple of months which I easily could have not done. I might even sell mine.

I didn't use mine in the begining, but once she started to sit up on her own, I put her in there with some toys, and was able to get some stuff done around the house. I feel it is good to have! She still goes in it to play. (11 months)

I never used it when he was younger but I started using it when he outgrew the bouncy and the swing only because its the only thing I could leave him in safely now and go to the bathroom shower etc.

Re: Do you NEED a Pack N Play?
I had mine and it was great I don't have that much space either but it was great when we stayed at my moms or FH moms. Also it was good to bring out in the backyard and my DD played in it she still to this day wants to go in it when we go to my cousins or friends that have little ones she wants to play in it.

Re: Do you NEED a Pack N Play?
I also have a two story home and I have it set up in the livingroom I put him in their for his naps durning the day and I also change him in their. Sometimes I just put the music on and he stairs at the mobile it came with and it will keep him occupied for a few minutes, enough for me to do something quick. I also plan on using it when we travel next summer

Re: Do you NEED a Pack N Play?
IMO You don't need one right now. I thought I would put one in my den(2 story home) for my DD to nap in but thats what her crib is for with a video monitor(besides it makes the room look cluttered). I am surviving just fine without one. Might get a less expensive one for the summer for her to nap in outside. But if you are limited in space I say pass on this.....

I think this is the way to go. While you don't need one, I think it made my life a lot easier. Even if I wanted to sit outside on my deck.

Both Grandmothers have them, but we never had a need for our own.

Re: Do you NEED a Pack N Play?
I returned mine. I didn't care about walking up and down stairs, b/c I wanted the exercise. If I needed to get things done, I would put him in the bouncie seat or swing - to nap too.
