Should I trim my hair to shoulder length or keep it as is?

I have always had short hair - the past few years I have grown it out - I am thinking of cutting it to maybe shoulder length for the spring - should I? Or should I keep the length?

Here I am - I'm the pale red head on the right Chat Icon

I think either would be nice so I guess I'm not much help! Chat Icon However, if I had to choose one, I have to say I like it long. I like the wave. Chat Icon

I like the length of your hair. Personally I do not like shoulder length hair...I usually go a bit shorter or longer. Have you ever considered adding some layers?

I would go a couple of inches shorter. It would look more "bouncy".

I love the length, but would add some shorter layers to give some fullness on the top

You have a beautiful face, you could easily pull off shorter shoulder length hair, and it would be bouncier (if that's what you're looking for)Chat Icon

Re: Should I trim my hair to shoulder length or keep it as is?

Thanks guys!!! You are all so sweet -

I have such thick hair, and wavy, I get afraid layers would wing out a la Farrah Fawcett, or poof out - any suggestions on what I should ask for?

Here I am with shoulder length hair 2 yrs ago - I was heavier, so my face was fuller:

Re: Should I trim my hair to shoulder length or keep it as is?

i really like the length. personally i would add tons of layers and anglesaround the front...then if you want you can always go shorter!

Re: Should I trim my hair to shoulder length or keep it as is?

So, I should just say to the person cutting my hair, "add tons of layers to the top" and they will know what to do?

I might go back to John in Cactus at Huntington.... He always knew what to do with my hair. I stopped going to save money, but I put in enough SuperCuts time to maybe treat myself for mother's day. I don't want to do anything until after the half marathon - want my hair to be easy to pull back. Mother's day wknd is the following wknd, so I will go for it then...

Thanks everyone!!! Chat Icon

I think your bone structure is gorgeous! You need to show it off with shorter hair.

A good haircut is really worth the price. A stylist that knows your hair is as good as gold. You really should splurge on a good cut. It can make a ton of difference.

The layers in the back can give height and shape to the top, but the angles in the front need to be in line with your natural structure, it makes a huge difference when a stylist gets this right.

If your hair is thick and wavy I would not ask for "tons of layers" I would ask for long layers. A good hair cut is worth it. I had one supercuts hair cut in my life and my best friend still refers to it as the weedwacker hair cut. Treat yourself!!

Re: Should I trim my hair to shoulder length or keep it as is?

I like your hair better in the second picture, but I don't know if that is because it is pulled back. Do you have a pic where your hair is shorter but down?

I think you could keep your hair long, but like others said, I would do layers to frame your face.
