Need furniture help ...with poll

We picked the furniture collection for baby bean's nursery. The floors in her room will be a medium hardwood color (not dark, and not oak). There will be white wainscoting on the wall with a white chair rail, white crown molding, and the paint color will be a medium lavender. Her bedding is posted below. We love the furniture but we are stuck between the white and the cherry color. I think the white would look better, but dh says the cherry would show less. So my questions are: 1) what color would look better, cherry or white?
2) what color finish is more durable (won't show scratches), white or cherry?External Image External Image

Re: Need furniture help ...with poll

hmm well i personally am a fan of darker wood color. i think it would be a nice contrast to all the white you have. on the other hand, i think the white furniture would give the room a more delicate girly look if that makes sense.

i dont have much experience with white furniture but i feel the dark would show more scratches cuz the scratches and scuffs are light againts the dark wood. white may hide it better.

I love white in nurseries!!! I think white shows less scratches and dust. It can show dirt, but is easy to wipe down.

Re: Need furniture help ...with poll

We did white furniture when I was pregnant with DS. His room is a little on the smaller side, nursery furniture can be big/bulky, so I wanted to try to keep it light and airy with white furniture.

It held up amazingly. So much so I have no qualms about now re-using (after 2.5 years of abuse from DS) with our Chat Icon Chat Icon .

Re: Need furniture help ...with poll

I tend to lean towards the darker wood so that is my vote.

I would choose white buuuuttt I think the white furniture might be too much white with the white wainscotting.

Most of the furniture in my house is dark wood. I tend to like it better, but it definitely shows more dust, scratches, etc. We got dark for my dd's nursery, but now that we're having a boy, decided to get her a new white set and give him the dak.
