So, would you do anything in this situation?
We have a long driveway next to our house. On the side of the driveway furthest away from our house, there is only about 2 feet of grass before you get to the fence that separates us from our neighbors.
These neighbors apparently feed all the animals in the neighborhood. They have a flock of pigeons. They feed the birds and squirrels. OK, fine, I love animals.
Today I went outside and there are TONS of peanut shells lining the side of our driveway. I assume that the squirrels take them and then stand on the fence, open them to get the peanut and drop the shell which is now landing on our property. I also found half a slice of bread on the hood of my car. Obviously dropped by some animal that couldn't carry the entire thing.
I just don't feel like I should have to clean up my property because of what my neighbors are feeding the wild animals. If they drop it all on your property, fine, I don't care. But I have 2 small children and I shouldn't have to worry about your garbage.
I think I'm just going to let a little time pass and see if it continues. And if it does continue, I feel like I should say something.
Just curious what other people think and get other opinions.

You need to let them know. I guarantee they don't realize the mess they are causing. Next time you see them, ask them to move the "snacks" for the neighborhood animals closer into their property or into their back yard. It's not fair that you are dealing with that mess.

I agree. I doubt they realize where it's winding up.

I agree... they probably don't realize the mess they are making for us. The challenge is that the way the neighborhood is set up, their house is on a different street and we don't know these neighbors. The only time I went to their house was when they had a dead raccoon in their yard right against the fence... we could see the fur coming under the fence and the smell was HORIBLE! Eek! So I feel kinda bad that the only contact I will have with them is to complain!
Oh well.... I guess it's either say something or don't complain about it right!

my 1st concern it that they may be attracting some undesirable critters eventually like raccoons, rodents, possums, strays, etc.
id bring it up immediately. but im not a pigeon lover to begin with either! haha

Oh yeah... not sure if you saw my post above but they already had a dead raccoon on their property up against our fence. They didn't notice it because they have trees on their side of the fence. We noticed the horrible smell and then could see the fur coming under the fence. So who knows what else they are feeding!

I hate people who feed wild animals. These animals got here this far on their own, trust me, they don't need help. They are way smarter than humans when it comes to finding food.
That said, I would definitely let your neighbors know of what's happening. I think even if they were to feed them further away from your house, these animals have certain areas and paths where they instinctively travel to and they're not just going to go somewhere else because the food is in another location.
Other than not feeding them, not sure what can be done. Maybe they can make the squirrels' job easier and less dirty by giving them peanuts out of the shell and stop leaving entire slices of bread out.
I once saw a squirrel running around with, I kid you not, an entire slice of pizza in its mouth!
