Tea question
I know this has probably been asked before but can someone please give me the low-down on teas and which are ok/safe? Specificially did your dr. say to stay away from anything?
I read that herbal teas are no good but what does that mean lol? I l like to drink: green tea, peppermint tea, chamomille tea and regular tea! TIA!

Re: Tea question
I love chamomile tea but keep forgetting to ask my doctor if it is safe. I have read not to drink it when pregnant though so I haven't. If I have tea I have green tea and decaf tea.

Re: Tea question
I was a big tea drinker but read you shouldn't drink green tea, herbal tea, and then there is the caffeine issue with other teas. I only drink decaf black teas to be extra safe.

Well I guess I will stop drinking green tea...haha I only really had it when I went to Benihana for dinner. I only have decaf at home so I guess I am safe. Just have to remember not to drink the tea when we go to dinner now.

I think the biggest issue I read with green tea was that it counteracts the effect of folic acid and can increase the chance of neural tube defects. However, I think the role of folic acid is most important during first tri. I cut it out to be safe but probably best to check with your doctor about it as I'm just going based on random internet info and of course we all know everything on the internet is always true

Re: Tea question
This is what I have been drinking. It is caffeine free and non herbal. If you google it and pregnancy it talks about how it supports pregnancy.
Ugh pic is too large. It is Madagascar Vanilla African Roobios Tea by Celestial Seasonings. but there is an Energizer version which has rosemary which should be avoided.

Re: Tea question
I drink regular tea. It takes 4-5 cups to equal the same amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee.

Re: Tea question
I love chamomile tea and it settles my stomach so I read up on it. Apparently, there isn't enough of the herb chamomile to do any harm. It's mostly there for flavor, so it should be safe to drink. If you're worried, you can always make it as weak as you want. As for other teas, I guess the issue would be the caffeine, so as long as you keep it under 3 or 4 cups a day, you're good.
