Need foundation help
OK now that I have all these lovely new products from MAC, I don't really know how to use them. The sales girl showed me how to apply it (foundation, concealer, powder) which I tried to do this morning, but I didnt end up looking the way she made me look.
What are some tricks you girls use? My two main issues are 1. i have pimples that are kind of drying out and so the skin isnt smooth there (gross sorry) and 2. I have a black & blue on my face (from an acupuncture needle, nothing bad lol) and the concealer did not cover it. Two very observant staff members commented on it today.
What the heck am I doing wrong? She said apply the foundation with the brush, then concealer, then powder.

Re: Need foundation help
Did you apply a primer? for bumps or lines or anything like that, a primer is a GODSEND!
I apply everything with my fingers too.. no brush.
I usually apply as follows:
moisturizer and undereye roller let it dry primer let it dry concealer oil free tinted moisturzer concealer to touch up setting powder and then the rest of my face goes on (Bronzer, etc.)
hate the cold months, I feel like I have to do so much more to liven this grill up! lol

i didnt let it dry so maybe that will make a difference. so you apply moisturizer twice? what does the second round of moisturizer do?

Re: Need foundation help
sort of.. the first one is a matte moisturizer.. the second is a tinted moisturizer (a light foundation you could say).

Re: Need foundation help
The #1 mistake people make with foundation is not blending it into your neck. Make sure you do that or it's a give away. I apply everything with brushes. I have a foundation brush, concealer brush and a powder brush. Always go light on the powder and try to stick to the t-zone other wise you get some in your hair and again it looks fake.
Also, you applied the concealer after the foundation right? Use it sparingly. I've seen too many people with their under eyes REALLY light.

this is what it says it does "This rollerball goes on under the eyes to cool and refresh as it gently rolls away puffy bags and the appearance of fatigue. Its ingredients, including invigorating caffeine, potent antioxidants, and soothing botanicals, work immediately and over time to brighten the eye area. "
Does it burn?? I have super sensitive skin.

Re: Need foundation help
for acne the best way to cover is it prime, conceal, set with powder, and then repeat. Do the whole process twice and then apply your foundation.
A stippling brush is the best brush in my opinion for applying foundation. It gives you that airbrushed look and kind of blends right in with your skin (provided you are wearing the correct foundation)

I have sensitive skin too! but it does not burn at all! I also put it in the fridge so it feels good when I put it on. :O)

Re: Need foundation help
I recently got new foundation and this sponge I normally used a brush for my foundation but this sponge has been amazing!! It is expensive but if you buy the two pack it is cheaper and its not like any other sponge. I put some water on moisturizer on the fat part and the stipple it in. Then I use the pointy side for spot treatment or around my nose. I love love love it!!
