I cant take the pressure anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really need to vent because if I do anymore screaming and crying, my little one is going to come out a nervous wreck Chat Icon

I feel like every aspect of my life is out of control! My "wonderful" husband gutted the upstairs apartment to give us room for the baby and its not even half way finished! He insists that he can do EVERYTHING on his own and not one job is getting completed. I have asked him over and over again if he understands that there is a baby coming within the next couple of months and he just yells back at me that hes "not stupid"..I totally beg to differ right now!

My 2 dogs are on the war path lately. They have been having accidents in the house, barking non stop and just overall misbehaving! I am not having a baby shower so I am trying to order things little by little for the baby but each time I think I am making progress theres 100 more things I realize we need.

Theres not one room in this place that is totally finished (upstairs or down) and at this point, I would love to just run somewhere far far away. I am feeling tired overall again and I feel much more pregnant (25 weeks) these days. I cant even look at my husband without wanting to kill him...theres no end in sight. The only thing that is solid is that this baby IS COMING no matter what and we are no where near ready.

And now I feel more guilty than ever because all I did all day was scream, yell and cry about things and now I am a nervous wreck this will have a negative effect on my baby.

I just needed to vent like this before I started yelling and crying over here again..thanks for reading and I am sorry for getting anyone down.

Re: I cant take the pressure anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry that you're so stressed! if it makes you feel better, i just read this article yesterday:

Mild maternal stress helps children mature
Washington: Contrary to popular belief, mild to moderate levels of maternal psychological stress during pregnancy may actually enhance foetal maturation, according to researchers from the John Hopkins University and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

The findings are contrary to expectations, generated primarily by animal studies, which have reported that stress during pregnancy interferes with normal development. The Hopkins study found that the opposite was true in a study of pregnant women and during a follow-up of their 2-year-old children.

"We found that modest anxiety and daily stress during pregnancy is associated with more advanced early child development. These findings remained even after accounting for levels of stress and anxiety women experienced at six weeks and at two years postpartum.

Prenatal maternal stress also didn't interfere with children's temperaments, attention capacity or ability to control behavior and did not cause hyperactivity," said Janet A. DiPietro, PhD, lead author of the study and a professor in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Department of Population and Family Health Sciences.

The authors found one exception to their study results: the children of women who regarded their pregnancy as more negative than positive showed slightly poorer emotional control and attention capacity.

"Our findings should provide relief to women who are experiencing the normal anxieties and stresses common to the demands of modern life. In essence, women can stop worrying that their emotional state is harming their unborn baby. Obviously, we don't recommend that women seek out stress, because maternal exhaustion is not good preparation for labor and delivery and the demands of child rearing," said DiPietro.

Re: I cant take the pressure anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

I somewhat know how you feel, when I was preggo with my twins, my Dh started to do the babys room and our only bathroom - I was like 25 weeks when he started!! I did not think he would EVER get it done, but somehow, someway, he did get the babies room done, and ended up fininishing the bathroom while I was in the hospital. I know its hard, but try to relax and let it go. Eventually it'll be done, and I'm sure you being stressed out isn't helping your Dh work any faster either. I know my Dh would go slower everytime I started in with him! Chat Icon

Re: I cant take the pressure anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just because you are not having a baby shower, do you have to purchase everything yourself? Often friends and family will give you gifts. And you don't need EVERYTHING on day 1. You need only a few things. Make a list of what you need for the first 3 months. Car seat, Bassinet, 3 sheets, matress protectors, bibs, onesies, PJs/gowns, Dreft (get at Costco), etc..
You don't need the exeersaucers on day 1 or the stuff like that.

Then speak to you husband calmly. Tell him you would like to hire someone to do some of the work and that would help both of you with this stressful situation. let him paint the baby's room, but hire someone to do the spakling or the flooring.

And lastly, go get a nice massage. Seriously that 1 hour of alone and quiet time can make a huge difference.
