How often do you give baby desserts?
Do you do it after dinner, or just as an anytime treat in general? I'd like to start DD on the custard/yogurt desserts (Gerber stage 2). She usually enjoys a teether cookie every afternoon. Should I do one or the other or is both okay?

I used to give desserts as an afternoon snack (alternated with yogurt). I think also giving the cookie at some point is fine.

I would never give desserts. I didn't want them getting used to custard. I would mix yogurt in with veggies though.

I used to do it after dinner. She loved it. Most of the desserts are fruity anyway- the custard was nice once in a while.

I used to give the veggie first then the fruit and the fruit that was the dessert

Why didn't you want them to get used to it? Is there sugar or something in the custard that isn't a good idea to give to them?

I never gave my son custard. I would give him yogurt or fruit after a meal as a dessert.

My doc has me giving the baby Yogurt once a day, so I treat that like her "dessert"...
He also wanted to introduce custards so once in a blue moon she'll ge get a half of jar of custard with her dinner...
We don't do water or juices yet either and she doesn't really eat outside of her meals and bottles...
I HAVE to start giving her teething cookies and stuff though...I just don't know when either.

We give apple sauce as a snack in the afternnon and sometimes after dinner as dessert. He loves it!
I never give any sweets!

Nope, never and I don't plan on it. I don't want to giver her the extra sugar, and I don't want my daughter getting used to having dessert after a meal. That's what my parents did with me and honestly, I find myself craving sweets every night after dinner. I give her plenty of fruits, and that will be her dessert for a long time to come...

If DH had his way, he'd give Nate dessert/custard a few times a week. But I give him custard once or twice a month, not necessarily as dessert after dinner.

Every once and a while after dinner. Plus now that he's started enjoying table foods, if I have something sweet, I'll give him a tiny sample.

Me too never gave anything labeled "desserts" they have added sugars - but instead his dessert was a fruit.
And I thought I was the only evil beyotch (so I was told! LOL) that put veggies in his yogurt!
