What material couch do you have?
What material couch do you have? Do you recommend it, or advise against it?
I'm shopping & not sure if there's something I should steer clear of..

Microfiber. Ds decided yesterday that the BLACK crayon would look oh so nice on my mocha couch. Well a babywipe later and the crayon is gone. Super durable.

we have leather ......we have alot of kids in my house ......the day i got delivered dd put her choclate ice pop hand all over it nd a babywipe cleaned it right up
we are gonna get new couches soon and they will most likely be leather

We just got a chanille couch at the beginning of the summer and it's already destroyed by t he kids and dog. It is a temporary couch, so I'm not devestated, but I doubt I will get another.
The one we replaced was cordoroy, which held up great until potty training!

Leather is good because it wipes clean very easily, but not so good because of our dogs' nails.

Leather!
Cleans easily. We do get some scratches in it from our dag but the dog hair and kitty hair doesnt stick to the couch

I chose other. Ours is a leather/microfiber combo.
I love it. DH wanted all leather, I wanted microfiber, so it was a great compromise for us.
I personally don't like how leather is extremely cold in the winter and extra hot in the summer (reminds me of my skin sticking to my grandma's plastic wrapped couches!). I wanted something that I could snuggle up on during the weekends and after a long day of work. But DH wanted the masculinity of leather so voila!

Our sectional in our living room is a woven fabric. I do not recommend it for a main living area if you have kids and/or pets!
There are so many pulls in the couch from our cat's claws it looks horrible in some areas... sometimes even the corner of my e-ring or something on our clothes would get caught and make a pull!
The 2 good things about it though are that it is super comfy and all the cusions come off and go right into the washer/dryer so that is convenient.
Next time we will go with microfiber.

Microfiber, but I am in the middle of making a slipcover from cotton canvas, so the whole thing can go in the wash if/when needed.

would rather have leather if i had kids but i have cats instead so we have microfiber or they would tear up the leather with their claws!

Microfiber--it is super durable and easy to clean. I do think it traps odors a bit though.

Microfiber; they've held up remarkably well for 5 years! But its just the two of us so not much wear. Stains come out pretty quick with a damp paper towel and some dawn (even pen ink!) but now they're getting a bit tired (one broken spring in the recliner) and looking too worn. I think we'll go for a fabric/chenille type next.

We have one canvas, not a slipcover, and one leather. Canvas slipcovers are the best though for kids and pets. That is what my parents have always had. They can be expensive to have made, but they are so easy to clean. They just bought an Ikea couch for their beach house with 3 different slipcovers and everything things it was a very expensive couch.

microfiber and I TOTALLY recommend it!!!!!!!!!
I have cats and they go wild sometimes and chase each other, etc.. the couch has stayed totally unaffected!! It's so soft too.

we have a chenille sofa: stains easily, hard to get them out, but does a good job of disguising dust and pet hair in between vacuumings.
the loveseat is twill/canvas (not sure): everything clings to this fabric (dust, hair) and since it's a dark chocolate, everything shows up...except stains, which is good.

This is why we bought microfiber couches. We have a cat and I'm 6 months pg. We wanted something that was going to be durable, comfortable, and easy to clean.
