When redoing a bathroom in your house...
Even if they seal it off, how dusty does everything get?
We need to gut and redo our master bath shower-- and I am trying to figure out how much stuff I should move out of my bedroom to protect it from all the dust. I just finished basically cleaning the house from work done, and now I gotta start from the beginning due to an emergnecy leak.

We had dust EVERYWHERE! We redid an upstair bathroom at the foot of the stairs and the only rooms that weren't dusty were those with doors I could close everyday. All open rooms had dust. It traveled right down the stairs, around corners...you wouldn't believe it! And our guys were very neat.
But we have an older house so the walls were plaster and the plaster makes a much bigger mess during demo. We had a coating of dust through the entire demo and part of the rebuild when they were sanding what they'd spackled so I would say...prob 7 days out of 3 weeks there was a new layer of dust. I covered furniture I couldn't move out of the way with plastic, old blankets, you name it and closed as many doors as I could. Everything else, I scrubbed clean.
One tip too...if you have CAC, make sure to check your filters throughout the demo! We went through 3 filters during our renovation b/c the filter would suck all the dust right in everyday and if you don't clean the filter or replace them, the CAC will labor and could break down costing you $$$$. We went out and bought the cheapest filters we could find for the renovation then replaced them with good ones once the renovation was complete.

ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT Of dust for a LONG time. We redid our down bath. We had dust for many months, it was awful and very bad for DHs asthma.

Wow - our's was almost non-existant! Our contractor was great about minimzing dust and keeping things really clean. When we had the downstairs gutted we had that blow-in insulation that filtered in too. They put down papers and tarps and gutted in and then vacuumed and swept and shut the door and you wouldn't even know they had done anything. I never noticed anything other than a very very fine dust at one point - not much more than I'd notice if I hadn't dusted in a few weeks. Same when they ripped off a quarter of the roof and added a dormer and did all the work on the master bedroom and bath. I experienced next to nothing in the way of residual dust. I guess our guys did a great job of controlling it all.

well they finished the demo already and it's not too bad. Does that mean the worst of it is over?
It's just the shower-- not the whole thing, so maybe it's better....
I am just so upset that I have to live here through this when we had work done here for 4 weeks before we moved in. It's really so frustrating. I just want to settle in.

The demo and any sanding to prep for painting (ie: the drywall spackle, woodwork, etc) will be dusty but you're halfway there and the tile work should not be bad as long as they are not cutting the tiles in the house. Our guy set up his tile saw in the yard and cut everything outside.

My best advice would be to stay on top of the cleaning in your bedroom and even vacuum the dust in the bathroom everyday when the guys are done working even if they cleaned up. The more you do each day the easier it is to clean when the job is done.

Because of DS' respiratory issues, we HAD TO keep it clean.
They had drop clothes everywhere. I had them SEAL the area with plastic drop clothes.
I was a maniac!!!!!
My contractor got used to me! 
ETA: they vaccuumed often and sealed it again when the sanded the drywall. That was even worst!!!!
