YIKES - 1 inch SPIDER!
I just killed a spider IN MY HOUSE that was over an inch big! WHAT THE HECK???? At what point do I need to be concerned that these are dangerous spiders? Holy scary

Do you live near the woods? We used to get those all the time in Michigan where I grew up. We called the wood spiders or wolf spiders. They were all different types but they were huge - I remember squishing them with a 2x4 or my brother's motocross boots with the steel plate bottoms. Yuk! They were not dangerous, just creepy. ETA - I don't think there are any poisonous spiders native to LI.

we have spiders. all over. I spray, get the guy in to spray, these effers don't care. Just spray as needed and each night check the bedroom ceiling..the only ones I would watch out for are the ones that look spotted.

OMG - was it big...like the body too? I just killed one in my kitchen this week! I have never seen a spider like that on LI. After I illed it, I thought WTH has he been eating to get that big...and then regretted killing it

We rent an apartment in a house and it has spiders too. I am totally creeped out by them and kill them right away, but I've read that citrus-type smells keep them away.

ugh spiders creep me out too... does anyone have recommendations for an indoor spray to get rid of spiders? i feel like i have killed 4 in the last week in my house!

i think it's "spider-season". we have them in our house too. i tried lavender - didn't work. now i'm on to pledge.
next, i'm getting rid of my bushes in the front of our house.

Try spraying white vinegar around all openings....I don't have spiders but I had ants and I sprayed vinegar and I haven't seen them in months.

I killed one recently too! It appeared one night, came from my radiator. I couldn't get it but was freaking out it was a brown recluse. Then another night it appeared again, and I quietly ran to get a shoe and WHACKED it so hard and got it. I swear it was a brown recluse!!! SO glad I got it.
Did it look like a baby tarantula or like a regular spider just BIG?

Looked like a regular spider - just bigger - not hairy at all I killed another one yesterday. There is rarely just one spider around though ya know. I have seen them in my backyard too
