CAC maintenace
Do you have yours checked/serviced yearly? What company do you use and how much is the contract yearly?
We are currently using General for oil and they do CAC maintenance. They quoted me $89.95 for start-up and if anything needs to be repaired/replaced it's an additional $125/hr + parts. I thought that was kind of expensive.
DH and I really dropped the ball on our CAC maintenace and need to get on this ASAP.

we have been in our house for 3 years and have done nothing except once it wasnt blowing cold air we called someone and we just needed a freon charge.
We do the method of every summer turn it on and pray

We had our CAC installed in 2004 and never did maintenance until a couple of years ago when it wasn't feeling as cool in the house (and we needed freon).
My parents have had their CAC since 1980 something and have maintenance done every year on it. They use Aaron Air Conditioning in Massapequa and swear by them. We use them too when we needed the maintenance call.

I use General as well for oil and called them this week when I was having issues with the CAC (lived in house for 5 years and never had AC issues). When scheduling the appt they required that I paid the service fee ($!25) upfront (over the phone). Long story short but it took 2 techs to fix the minor issue (first tech BSed his way through it). Cost to repair was almost $400 ($125+tax per hr labor cost and parts). I am happy that is is now fixed but I bit annoyed that it was such a hassle and pricey.
General does offer a yearly AC contract. The cost is $199 (A/C start up, labor fees for additional maintenance, parts additional fee) or $299 (A/C start up, labor fees for additional maintenance, parts included).
Curious if anyone else has a AC contract.

I live in FL, but have a contract for Central Air, it is good to have and is really not smart to not service unit at the start of season. Just like a tune up for your car, so if you can get it done.

We are getting one now (since our AC crapped out this week). It is $229 for the year and they come twice to do maintenance. ThHis services both our AC and our heat.
