Wells Fargo VENT!
we are just about ready to close... waiting on Wells Fargo to give us the "clear to close" signal....
last week, i sent an email asking our agent if they needed anything else to close... she said no...
4 hours later i get an email back asking for itemized deposit slips to verify a large deposit that was made in april... (we had our wedding)... went to the bank, got them and sent them over. again asked if they needed ANYTHING ELSE... she said no.
2 days later i get an email from her, asking for a copy of our marriage certificate???? WHAT? ... ok, scanned and sent... do you need ANYTHING ELSE?? ... No.
yesterday.... she is now requesting proof that we had a wedding because our marriage certificate is dated 10/16/09 and our deposits were made in April 2010.... is this woman joking?!?!
this morning i scanned in receipts from the catering hall, the DJ, the Florist and the wedding gown.. along with the menu and invitations...
*****?!?!?! whats next? do they want a blood and hair sample too? how about my 5th grade class photos?

It's all part of the process!! And it's infuriating!!
When we bought our first place - a co-op...the bank requested everything at least 6 times. Each piece of paper. Minimum of SIX times. It was horrible.
But, in the end, it was all worth it!

I had the same thing with Wells, its not the broker themselves its the underwriters, good luck :) It will work out in the end

We had similar issues with Wells Fargo. The paperwork they wanted was ridiculous.

I work for a major mortgage lender..not Wells Fargo.
it's infuriating, yes, but this is the world we now live in. Every single large deposit must be sourced. Everything must be proven. Everything is reviewed 16 times by at least 5 people. She may have felt you provided enough, but then someone else gets their hands on it. These people are trained to question everything. There has been so much fraud in the banking world, we are drilled constantly to question everything.
It's frustrating for us too, though. We feel like morons asking for this info, this provate info. But, like I said, this is the world we live in.
you used to be able to say "I have a 780 credit score and make $200k a year, can I have a mortgage?" and you'd get one. Now, you have to prove everything.
It $ux, and sorry you are dealing with this! Hopefully you'll be clear to close soon!!

that's what happens when the underwriter isn't in house or even in the same state!
I prefer to use a direct local lender like continental home loans for this and many other reasons!
my smoothest closing have been with them and those were also my hardest deals that would not have gotten done elsewhere!

Gosh, I don't even know where I would find my receipts for those wedding related things. Once the wedding was over, I was DONE!
Good thing you still had them.

We used Wells Fargo, it's the underwritiers. It's almost as if they come across something then ask for it...then keep doing the same thing not looking at the paperwork they already have.
Anytime I had to give something, I kept a copy of the pdf file and would just resend it. It was annoying, but in the end, all worth it.

I was trying to do a loan mod with them and every week they would ask for the same thing. I would get letters asking for the same thing over and over again.
I am not a fan.

Wow we have used Wells for 2 mortages & have had no problems at all. I'm sorry you have to go through all of this.

I have Wells also and HATE them. We actually put an insurance claim through and since it was over a certain amount of money Wells had to hold it in escrow and give it to us in increments and it was such a hassle.
I can not wait to re-fi with another band one day.

I had no problems at all with them either. We put the application in the Friday before Labor Day last summer and got clearance to close three weeks later.

We were married 11 months before our BIG wedding so i knew we couldnt give them our marriage cert to show proof of wedding when we made our deposits.... so yes, I too had to send them our catering hall bill... Its a bit crazy that they want every last ounce from you, but i assure you once you get into your own place, it was sooo worth all the aggravation!
