Sears warranty, worth it?
We just went to Sears and bought all our applices, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. The cost was about 3200 but a 5 year warranty on everything except the microwave was 1300 bucks! now we're having buyers remorse and are wondering if we should cancel the warranty before they deliver. Its a 5 year warranty, everything included and it includes a free maintence servicing every year. any thoughts are experiences? We just feel for the price if the fridge (760 + tax) or the stove (670) and washer dryer (560 each) die we could replace 1 or 2 items for the same price. Any thoughts?

Consumer reports studies show that warranties are generally a rip-off, and the probability of you using it is slim to none.

You pretty much answered your own question, and that's basically what CR says too. You'll basically never make your money on a warranty. Also, depending on what happens, in 4 years, they'll either fix your 4yo fridge (that cost you $1300 for the warranty), or you can buy a brand new one, better one for $900

Plus, if your luck is anything like mine, your appliances will go right after the warranty expires.

I'd keep it. i used mine on my appliances at least once a year. for my stove, dishwasher, washing machine. dryer was OK, so was my microwave...
ETA- WHOAH! i just re-read teh price you paid. Ick. no, something is wrong there.

I can tell you I paid $600 for my 2k washer and dryer and exactly 1 yr, 2 weeks later my electric panel on my dryer went and we just used the warranty(sears). I also just bought 5k worth of new kitchen appliances and our 10 yr warrantly was just over 1k(pcrichards). So I do think the price you paid was a high. Generally i am a fan of warranties though....
