We are having trouble with fleas in our backyard for the last few weeks. We haven’t seen a single one in the house but we wanted to make sure to treat them before they got out of hand. DH tried all different stuff the first week we started to notice them which was around 6/30 from HD and lowes, without any change.
Both our families have used suburban before with great results for many different things

I called them on Monday 7/5 and explained my issue. the girl told me to put a pair of white socks on and walk through my house. She asked if I saw black dots jumping on my feet-I didn’t. so she said ok, they’re not in your house. She said you need just a lawn treatment. We sell 1 treatment for $200 something (I can’t remember the exact amount I want to say like $215ish). But if you buy 2 treatments at 30 days apart, you get a reduced rate. Each treatment will cost $180something, (again I don’t remember the exact number). But with the 2 sessions you get our 90 day guarantee. So of course I picked that one. She explained to me that they would come back as many times as it takes within the 90 days. (I forgot to ask when the 90 days started, but that doesn’t matter at this point) she then asked me the size of the property. I told her 100x150- because that’s what our survey says. she said after the application, we will need to water the lawn and stay off it for 2-4 hours. Basically until the lawn is dry. Her first opening is wed 7/7 between 8am and noon. We take it

Wed 7/7 they came to treat the lawn. The guy shows up and tells DH our property is much larger then they told him. They told him it was a quarter of an acre. He had a little hand spreader and not enough chemical. DH gave him our lawn spreader and the guy called the office. They sent someone else out to bring him more chemical. He put it down, instructed us to stay off it for 24 hours, and water it well. He also gave us a piece of paper that said they would be back August 24 (45 days later)
Ok, she was wrong about the 30 days, she sent him with not enough chemical and we had to stay off the lawn for 24 hours.. we let this all go. People make mistakes, and it’s not going to break us
We have the dogs bathed with blue dawn that day, so that they are clean and free of fleas when they can return to the lawn.

Saturday 7/10 we notice that the dogs are still getting fleas on them, so DH and I decided that if it continues we are going to call this week. we give dogs another bath

Wed 7/14 –one week later. The problem continues. DH calls them and explains the issue. A women tells him to call back on Saturday as its not 10 days after treatment yet and it doesn’t take full effect until then… umm why didn’t they tell us this in the first place? I would have continued to walk the dogs??? We let it go until Saturday, but bathe the dogs again

During the entire time we see the fleas, we literally only let them go outside to do their business and they have to come right back in. its really a PIA because the puppy needs to run off his energy, and he can’t. he gets so upset when we have to force him in. it really stinks!

Saturday 7/17-I pull off 26 fleas from one of the dogs, and I just can’t take the fleas anymore! The poor dogs are scratching nonstop to the point that one dog ripped his skin open and was bleeding. I’ve had to take them both to the vet. One dog has had to go on a steroid to reduce the swelling of the flea bites. I call suburban. I’m told that there is no such guarantee that they offer, nor is it noted in the computer. The girl I speak with is from another dept and says that she doesn’t handle this dept so I need to wait until Monday when the dept manager is in to handle this. if she told me that I got that guarantee, she was sure she would honor her word. She said she’s in at 7am on Monday morning and will make sure she calls me. I give her my cell #

Monday 7/19 we called in the morning around 10:30ish since we didn’t hear from them. they instructed us that they needed to send over an inspector to come inspect the interior of our home. They set it up for that day between 1 and 5. DH is on his way home and will be there about 12:45. At 12:10 I get a call from my mom who was watching the dogs, and she says an inspector is there. I tell her DH is on his way they are going to just have to wait.
The women inspects our entire house. She went through all of my bedding, pulled all the cushions off the sofas, she walked on all carpeting with white socks, etc. she found not one single flea. She calls suburban and passes the info on. She leaves and tells us suburban will be contacting us to take the next step. She left us with her card and her personal cell number. She was extremely nice and said that they really needed to do the right thing and re-treat the lawn as that’s the only place they are. that day we didn’t hear anything from them. or the next day.

Wed 7/21- DH calls them. they ask his name and address. Then they proceed to tell him that there isn’t anyone in that dept today. so he says ok, should I call back tomorrow? She says no, I don’t think she will be back then either. Maybe Friday


My WWYD question- where do I go from here? I paid them in full $400 already thankfully on my Credit card.
Do I call back and just ask for a supervisor and not explain who I am or what I need?
Do I dispute the charge on my credit card and get another company? (I already notified the CC I may need to so it’s on record)
I mean I can’t keep taking to dogs back to the vet, or keep them on these meds, it’s not good for them!
Do I call the inspector on her personal cell #?

I thought this company was so good, I just don’t know what to do.

I would talk to another exterminating company - see what their protocol is

then i would call subrurbabn and ask for a supervisior - and tell them you have 24 hours to call back or you will be disputing through credit card - compare also with what another company will give

also i would put a flea collar and/or front line on your dogs to help protect them if you can

eta - we use - long island exterminating co. twice and they come out real fast

I would call another company and not pay Suburban.

I know this isn't answering what you are asking. But do you have the dogs on Frontline or other such flea product? Otherwise your home will get infested for sure. (forget it, didnt see what you wrote above0.

Now re what you wrote...boy are you having a BAD experience all around!!! I don't know what is the worst out of all the wrong things that happened here.

Suburban stink!!!!! That's all I have to say

as soon as we call they want your name and address.. I'm so fustrated!!!

I'm totally calling the better business bureau but should I just cancel the charge on my credit card and give up on calling them?
