Re: Chicago Suggestions
You have to see Navy Pier and Millenium Park. Also, go for a drink at night at the top of the John Hancock building. Eat a Chicago style hotdog. It may sound gross because of all of the stuff they put on it, but it's delish!! Take an architectural tour on the water.

Re: Chicago Suggestions
Awesome! We are staying right on Michigan Ave and have tix to a Cubs game July 4th. I thought about all the things you named, still wondering about the best pizza. I think the hot dog will be had at the ball game! Thank you!

Re: Chicago Suggestions
I used to date a guy from Chicago and when we went back to see his family they took me to their fave pizza place for Chicago style. I didn't think it was so unique, it's a round sicillian pie.
I really liked the Shedd Aquarium and Oceanarium.
Navy Pier is fun. We walked around Lincoln Park.
We walked around and went up in the Sears Tower (think now it's the John Hancock tower), I saw the Wrigley building and the Tribune building which is cool b/c they have all these stones n the exterior from other famous sites like the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China.
I really wanted to see the Museum of Science and Industry but we didn't get to it.

Re: Chicago Suggestions
Hopefully the weather will be good. If not, I'll be at every museum and indoor activity in town!

Re: Chicago Suggestions
I love Chicago. I have been there several times--most recently, last May.
If you want Chicago pizza, the places mentioned are usually Gino's East, Pizzeria Uno & Lou Malnati's. Lous Malnati's is my personal favorite ( not as heavy & greasy), but Pizzeria Uno is nice to see how it is different from the chain.
I went to Gino's the first time I was there & I just remember it being dirty.
Other restaurants I loved the last time I went were Quartino & Bistro 110. My boss loves Shaw's Crab House.
Oh- and Bin 36. It's a great wine/cheese bar.
The Art Institiute is amazing, but can take consume your day. The museum of Science & Industry is good, but out of the way. I was worth there trip, if you have time. I enjoyed the Field Museum & the Shedd Aquarium, but they don't stand out too me too much compared to other museum's of those types. My husband loved Sue, though (the dinosaur).
Navy Pier was boring to me, but I loved the architectural boat tour. The Lincoln Park zoo is also another good outdoor activity. The bigger zoo is the Brookfield zoo, but the Lincoln Park zoo is more centrally located & free.
Have fun!

Re: Chicago Suggestions
We had the best time! Thank you so much for the recommendations... The weather was perfect except the last day it was hot - that was our "shopping" day since we were leaving at 3:30.
We stayed @ The Westin on Michigan Ave., perfectly located! Pizza was great (had it 2x), Gibsons and even found an Orginal Pancake House...mad me so happy!

OH our last trip we stayed right next to The Original Pancake House, on the Gold Coast. It was great!!
Chicago is a wonderful city -- I have to take DD there soon!! We read Goodnight Chicago so often that now I want to visit all the places mentioned.

It's so beautiful in that area! I want to move there if they get rid of the cold winters :)
