Closing in 2 weeks-- what do I need to do?
We are closing on our house in two weeks but are not closing on our apt til the end of August.
Since I am not transferring services since I will still be living in my current home how do I set everything up?
What else do I need to do-- I feel like it's a really long time before we move and I just want to make sure services don't get turned off, etc.

We did not move into our house until 2.5 weeks after we closed. All we did was call the power, gas, and water companies and switch them over to our name. Most places require you to do this before or within 24 hours of closing. I would check with the providers to be sure.
I would wait on cable, phone, internet until it is closer to your move-in date.

Agreed.
Just call all of the utility companies (gas, water, electric) now and have it set up to be transferred into your name on the closing date.
You can either wait on cable/internet/phone or schedule the service visit now for a convenient date for you.
You can also schedule your utilities at your apartment to be shut off ahead of time without having to transfer the service to the new place.
