Looking for free fill
I need some dirt to fill in an area where we will be putting a new swingset for DDs. I don't need topsoil b/c we're not planting anything there. DH is out of work so we're trying to find somebody giving it away for free, also to deliver if possible since we don't own a truck (can borrow one, but a big pain!). I've looked on Craigs list and left messages but nobody calls us back. Anybody know anybody?

If you live in the Town of Brookhaven you can go to the Ecology Site, but you have to pick it up yourself

I know you said you looked on craigslist, but how about posting an ad for what you need?
You will probably have to pay someone to deliver it though.
I have also seen people post ads that you can hire them to pickup and deliver stuff fo you. that would be your best route

Call some pool companies to see if anyone is getting an inground pool put in. You may be able to ask the home owner if you can pick up the dirt if they don't want it.

depending on where you located this criagslist ad says its free and they will deliver
if your not in the area, maybe they will deliver outside the area for a small fee

We actually went to the landfill and filled up the back of a borrowed pickup truck. It was a PITA!! I can't imagine having to do that several more times. I guess if I have no alternative, I will have to, I'm just trying to see if somebody can come dump it here first.

there is a ton on craigs list...

Free Fill #2
Free Fill # 3 from a swimming pool
some will deliver... some wont... just search "FREE FILL" on craigs list Long Island.
