Where did you get your carpet?

We have 4 moderately sized bedrooms and one den to carpet. Im looking to be practical, but not cheap/chinsy. If we can find a place that has decent sized remnants, that would be fine.

We plan on going to Montauk Carpet on 110 that has a showroom and a warehouse. Any other suggestions in Nassau or not too far into Suffolk would be great. TIA

We went with Jim Flack (the guy with a hole in is head) on Rt 110. It's close to Montauk Carpet.

We got remnants for 3 of our rooms. For our BR and LR we splurged on sculpted carpet.

It's very bare bones in his place, no frills. We also requested the "A" team for installation based on my FILs recommendation. We had no complaints - they were great all around. I recommended my brother to them and he also had no complaints. He did not request the "A" team like us and still he was very happy.

My mom used A-1 Carpet when she bought her house, needed the whole upstairs done, the stairway, and the basement

she said she got several quotes and found them to be the best and most professional. She called Empire first and said some sleaze came to the door, totally unprofessional, and gave her a quote of twice as much as the place in West Babylon. This was three years ago, the carpets have held up great and the guys were there only one day for all that she had done, didn't make a mess, and even put up with the fact that their equipment kept not working because it was blowing the fuses because my mom needed an electrical upgrade that wasn't happening until after the carpet guys came.

We priced around quite a bit and found a GREAT price near us, but they're in Lake Grove.

I'm not on LI, so I don't have a specific place, bur both times I bought carpet, I was able to get "stock" carpet & it was reasonable.

It wasn't exactly a remnant, but it was just the big rolls in the middle of the floor, not the samples they have on the little racks that you order. Usually it is plainer stuff, but that's what I wanted.

They cut the piece in store form that roll--we just had to wait a week for binding, b/c we used it a large area rug, but I believe they could also install it.

And this was from 2 different places, so I think that is a standard thing.

We used A-1 Carpet as well they were very reasonably priced.

Manfredo Brothers in N Bellmore for carpeting and Pergo, they had the best prices and were great to work with. HTH

a-1 carpets they are amazing my family has been using them for MANY MANY years... and they were wonderful and very afforadable!

We used ESP carpet in westbury. We looked at a lot of places and found a carpet we loved. It was a little more than I was looking to spend. We went to ESP (my aunt and mom have both used them in the past) and the price was almost $900 less for the job!!! And it looks great.....the installers did a wonderful job.

You can get the name of the carpet you want and get a price from someplace else and call him to see what price he can give you. The store is small, no frills but you can't beat the price!

We used them for the carpet in our finished basement and the stairs. Got a great price on quality berber and the installation was perfect.

We used lowes, they have a one price installation so you might find them to be cheaper. We were happy with the install

I think the place is called House of Carpets. It's in Valley Stream on Rockaway. We carpeted our den. It's soft and cushy and I love it.

We just got a beautiful carpet from Montauk Carpet for our new den....we had a very positive experience with them..they have some big selection there and the salesman was really knowledgeable..The price was right as well...good luck!!

We used G.Fried for carpets (old country road in Westbury) - both remnants and regular carpet in my co-op a long time ago, in our old home and in the new house.

They had a large selection of remnants -of all different qualities and price ranges- at decent prices. We did shop around and used some of those numbers to get them down a bit - but they gave us a really great deal every time. They have a huge selection too and their instillation was cheaper than other places wanted to give us.
