Refinishing a deck

We have deck that I think we would like to sand to get rid of splinters and stain. Does anyone know how we would go about this? Thanks!

i refinished our deck last year - i did not sand - i just used a good power washer -my parent s have one but you can rent from home depot - then i just stained it and it was good to go - took about 2 days - one day to power wash and one day to paint and i was pregant

power washing is so easy - and nice to do on a hot day - just be careful which tip to use because if too small it breaks the wood apart
