Question - Offers on a house
Is there any way to know if there REALLY are others offers on a house? I feel like they just say that to make you offer more...

Re: Question - Offers on a house
I honestly cannot believe that people would lie about that... Seems so wrong to me.
Although I guess it's somewhat common based on posts I have read on here.

Re: Question - Offers on a house
I feel like most of the time they're lying...I hate to be so pessimistic but that's been my experience thus far...

Re: Question - Offers on a house
all the offers we got came in, in pairs. so my agent always said "they have another offer" even if the offer was bad and we would never acept it.
so she never lied

Re: Question - Offers on a house
lying may get them more money but I think they would loose more money than gain.. I would think people are more ikely to walk away than up there bid unless the house is that nice to cause a bidding war (which many dont want to do).

ITA!! we had the same issue with so many houses! 2 specific houses that we were told had offers well overours actually sold for a lot less, so they were full of you know what!
that was the worst part of buying a housefor us-all the games the real estate agents play

But did you really get outbid? Or were they just telling you that so you'd get caught up and bid more?

We really got outbid, we would give our best and they would accept another contract over ours...
This was in Fl about 8 months ago and the market was pretty competitve where we were looking...
I think we bid on 11 houses before we got our house
