Re: spinof to my own post!does it take 2 incomes to pay your mortgage?
mortgage can be paid on one salary--but that is just the mortgage---one other salary has to pay for everything else

One salary pays the mortgage and about 30% of the other monthly bills. The other salary picks up the remaining bills.

One salary for all bills. Even when I used to work FT, I banked my entire salary. We don't have a crazy mortgage either, so that helps.
I recently starting working PT to cover the cost of the kids tuition (private school), becuase we wanted a little cushion in the take home salary for unexpected expenses.

If we cut out all non necessities like cable and our outrageous cell phones and stuff like that - we could live entirely on one salary ( mortgage plus all essential bills ).
This is the same for us as well

No. My salary can pay all our bills, DHs we use for spending $ and savings.
I wouldn't buy a house if mine (or his) salary went entirely to the mortgage.

Mortgage, household bills and grocery is paid on one salary. We don't have any loans so the other salary is used for savings and entertainment.

all bills on one salary.
Same here and what's left over goes into savings.
I work p/t and my check goes towards food, shopping for us and the kids, gifts and that type of thing.

One salary completely pays the mortgage. The other pays for all the other "smaller" bills.

I am a stay at home mom so all of our expenses are paid for by my husband's salary.

One salary pays the mortgage - with a few hundred left over that goes to savings. The other salary pays all other bills and expenses.
