Gosh, I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. I too was told that just because the AFP was negative for certain things that didn't mean that everything was fine, and I too was a nervous wreck!! When you get the amnio, I think you can request (and pay a bit extra) for earlier results? They won't be 100% definitive, but I think they are usually pretty accurate. Maybe you can ask the doctor about it, as it may put your mind at ease a bit sooner. I'll be thinking about you and praying that your good results come back quickly.

As everyone else said, there are a lot of false positives. The way you get through the 2 weeks wait is you worry like hell even though everyone tells you not to. You reassure yourself every chance you get - and then read up every scary thing on the internet. But everyday you get up & talk to your belly - and that will help you through like nothing else can.
