Just a little peeved
Got my hair highlighted. Usually when I just get color I blow my hair myself at the salon. A blowout is about $40.
The girl who washed me really sucked.
She splashed in my face and in my ear, the water was too hot even adjusted twice and left the glaze on my forehead.
I gave her a minimal tip but didn't say anything to my colorist.
Then she directed me to a station to blow my hair complete with a dryer that was the power of a travel dryer and brushes that were useless.
Another stylist saw me and gave me another dryer which was more powerful but still pretty much stunk.
So I just dried my hair and stuck it on a clip.
Got home and took care of it.
I just hate walking out of the salon not done.
When I paid my bill the lady at the front desk asked me who I was there to see. I said I was done already. She looked at me strange of course.
I just left. I was just so annoyed.
Now they don't have to give me anything to blow my hair but a lot of folks do this. I don't need a blow out for $40 if I'm not going anywhere.
This is the first time I walked out of there feeling less than beautiful.

Re: Just a little peeved
Don't get me started. I once paid a decent amount for highlights (it was my first time). My girl asked if I wanted her to dry it. I'm thinking, "Uh...yeah..I want to see what it looks like." When I went to pay, there was an extra $30 added on for a blowout. Not to bash my girl but she gave my fine and medium length hair the type of blowout that goes with a haircut--not the kind that you are going out for a special evening! I was so annoyed. I could understand if someone wanted their curly hair straight but I think a simple, quick blowout should be included so that you can see how it looks! So, the salon wants a bunch of wet heads walking out as new clients come in?

Re: Just a little peeved
I really hate the fact you spend THAT much money on color and highlights and the blowout is NOT included. At my salon they do have a station you can use yourself. The dryer is OK, but not the same as the stylists use. I usually try to bring my own brushes. Or even if they gave you a blowout at half price would be better than nothing! Grrr....

I hate that, too. You spend good money and I'm always surprised that they don't at least give you a quick blow out to see the color!

ITA!! That's what I don't get -- how do you or the colorist know that it came out right?? There has to be an assistant or jr stylis that can take 10 minutes to blow out your hair. It doesn't have to be styled but at least neat.
