Progesterone Question
Has anyone had to take the progesterone inserts(Endometrin) did you have any side effects?? Also I just read about birth defects on the info sheet.. What did you think about that?? I have to start taking it in the morning and I think I just scared myself 1/2 to death by reading the clinical study for pregnancy.. Any input would be greatly appreciated TIA!!

Re: Progesterone Question
I had to use progesterone suppositories during my pregnancy with my son. The only side effect I experienced was sleepiness but you would get that even if your body was producing the progesterone too.
My son didn't have any birth defects (thank God) and my doctor said they are not very common anyway. The most common defect is in boys and it doesn't happen often. The urethra is sometimes a little shorter because of the progesterone and it is usually resolved when they are circumsized.

Re: Progesterone Question
i am on progesterone suppositories - but not that brand name. but i think they are the same thing.
i didnt know about the birth defects thing - do you have a link with that info? i would like to see it. my RE prescribes progesterone to almost everyone and explained that if you dont need it - it wont hurt (which is why i would like to see what you are talking about - they never mentioned this) - and if you do need them they can help you implant the egg and have a sticky pregnancy. one of my friends did them after here IUI and all through her first trimester. she's well into her second trimester now.
as far as side effects - i had A LOT... first off they are messy. you absolutely need pantyliners... my recomendation is to put it in at night right before bed and lay down immediately. if you can, def lay down for as long as possible once you put it in.. TRUST ME, its just better that way..stuff drips out... besides that, all the side effects are similar to early pregnancy/PMS. bloating, sore (.)(.)'s, fatigue.. basically anything that you think is an early pregnancy symptom - so dont look into anything during your 2WW!!
finally, they also may delay AF as well.
so they are not at all fun but if you do them right you can minimize how annoying they are (i have to do 2 day so i do one before bed and the other around 4am when i wake up to pee). that minimizes the amount of leakage since i am asleep for most of it.
and hey if they lead to a sticky BFP then it will all be worth it!!

Re: Progesterone Question
I was on progesterone suppositories when I was pregnant with my DD. I took them from week 5 to week 14 of my pregnancy. The only side effect was EXTREME exhaustion which was hard on top of the exhaustion that is already a part of pregnancy. Other than being a little messy to use they were fine and my DD was born healthy and happy.

Re: Progesterone Question
I was on Progesterone Suppositories last cycle and will probably be taking them again this cycle. I didn't have any side effects at all. I'd recommend using panty liners with them though, you could have some leakage.
