Please help! What shade of red? - Updated
Update:
My stylist wouldn't do it. Because I have had my hair colored fairly recently, she basically told me that I would end up with two different colors on my head, and the only way around that was to strip my hair and then add the red (which was a lot more $$ and time). She was also willing to do highlights, but again, a lot more $$ and time that I didn't have scheduled.
So since I am due with baby #2 in just over 2 weeks, I went with my signature super dark color, and I'm very happy with it, if a little disappointed about the red. I am still going to go for it, but it will have to wait until later this spring before I go back to work. This thread is going in my notebook  Thanks for all your help and advice!

I know that darker reds will be easier because the roots won't be as noticeable, but I find myself loving reds that are lighter, it seems like they might go better with my skin tone.

I was going to say I love #1 or #6. If you're such a dark brown now you may want to start with #6 because it won't be as drastic and you can get used to the idea of red more gradually.
ETA: I just saw the post with pictures of your current color and I say go for #1. I think it would look great on you!

Actually, #2 is my favorite, but I was afraid it was TOO big of a change!
I am trying to stay away from purple shades. I used to dye my hair "red" in high school and it was more of a reddish-eggplant color, and not at all flattering

I like 1, but i like it bc its the closest to brown and wouldn't be the biggest change...I also like 6, but I think 1 looks more naturual...I also like Debra Messing's red color
