with snow on the way do you....
shovel out your fire hydrant on your street?
I was just watching the mayor speak and he mentioned in the city to do it, and he had a very good point about it might be your house that needs it, so even its not in front of your house, you should just do it.
 I don't even know where my street's hydrant is located.

No. Never even crossed my mind... I'll mention it to DH - we're not very close to the fire hydrant but he may want to start shoveling it out.

never thought of it and don't know where our closet one is either. I guess they aren't that obvious on our block because I can't remember ever seeing one, but I know they have to be there. Weird.

the closest one is a few houses down and the family that lives in that house does dig it out. there was a horrible fire over the weekend in Virginia during the storm and it took the fire fighters that much longer to get to the house b/c they had to locate and then dig out the hydrant.

Yes, it's on our property so we always shovel it out. One of our neighbors is a volunteer firefighter in our town so I'm sure if we forgot or weren't around he'd take care of it.

I cant picture ours either, but it has to be there somewhere. I have never thought to shovel out the hydrant.

my parents have one on the side of their driveway and we always shovel it out. its very important to do so - you just never know!

you know i haven't seen one in YEARS in lindy, the same thing with mailboxes (we used to have one every four blocks) now you leave the mail out on your mailbox or i can walk a few blocks t the Post office to mail out.

There is one in front of my house. Last storm, the people across the street had a service come and do their driveway, so the service took care of it. This time, if they dont, I will.
