jcpenney furniture
Has anyone purchased furniture from jcpenney? How is the quality? Was it worth it or just junk??
I was browsing their website and although some of the pieces look really nice, and some are even pretty expensive.. the reviews are mixed...

Our bedroom set (almost 6 years old) and our dining room set (about a year and a half old) are both from there. We've had no problems at all.
My mom got a Brylane (I think, it was some brand I've seen in other stores too) couch and chair from there last year that are really nice. She was even able to purchase an extra yard of the accent pillow material to recover another cushion in the room.

We just bought DS bedroom set sight unseen from them online and its FANTASTIC! Its solid wood and sturdy as heck. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Id buy it again in a heartbeat.

we purchased our living room end tables, coffee table and consle table from them and love them. they aremade of excellent material.

our bedroom set and couches are from there- we've had them over 4 years and no real problems with them.
on the bedroom set a couple of the knobs came loose from opening and closing them a lot, but we just tightened the screws and they're fine...
i would recommend them!

I've bought a few things. I still have everything and its in good shape, so I would say its good quality. I wouldn't say its something you will hand down to your grandchildren, but its good quality.
The only thing I hate about them, are there shipping charges! sometimes their shipping on furniture which really is a delivery service, is as much as the item. that's been the deal breaker for me.
I actually have had a lot of good luck with overstock.com, and their shipping is always very cheap!

I also have a lot of furniture from jcpenneys (coffee table, bedroom set, dining room set). So far things have been holding up, I would not say that the wood is the best quality, but it is holding up pretty well for over 3 years.

I bought my bedroom set there in 2004. The bed is fine, but we've had a ton of issues with the drawers of the end tables and hardware coming off the chest.

My twins cribs are from there. They were dirt cheap and they planted 10 trees for every crib bought so I was happy with them. They have held up fine My sister also bought nursery furniture from there and is using it for her second baby so I think it has held up well also

I agree with both of these things.
shop around b/c the shipping charges from JCPenny don't always make it worth the cost when added together.
Overstock is a great place to look for stuff. our bed is from there as is one of our flat screen tvs (a philips!!) and $2.95 shipping...you really can't beat it AND the delivery guys were nice.
also check out Ballard Designs. I was originally eyeing a trundle bed from JCPenny but ended up getting it from Ballard b/c it was cheaper when all things (shipping etc) was considered, and I feel the Ballard is a better quality piece (a bit more sturdy. the trundle bed on the JCPenny piece felt a bit flimsy to me)
I am sure JCpenny has very nice things, but keep your eye on how much the shipping & handling is.

I had them shipped to the store so the shipping was only $22
I am excited to get them both- my BF might not be- I think they both have to be built

We ordered DD's bed from JC Penney and had free shipping because it was shipped to the store. My dear friend who owns a pickup truck got it with me and it took DH and I 5 minutes to put it together - very nice quality and an excellent price.
Their delivery prices are too high, in my opinion. . . If it's possible to pick stuff up from the store - it's a great option.

My kitchen table and chairs and family room leather sofas are from there.
I got everything for a STEAL! MUCH cheaper than the local furniture stores were charging and better quality IMO!!!!
Shipping to the store is an option as beth posted...

For shipping, I googled jcpeneey coupon codes and came up with a ton for free shipping, which on large items like furniture is valid if you ship site to store. So I used the code to ship from the site to the smithaven mall JCP and it didnt cost me a dime.

Our leather w/ wood frame sleeper sofa, loveseat & recliner were bought from their home store in Lake Grove years ago...they were reasonably priced and have withstood 2 dogs and a DH that broke previous furniture.

My future in laws bought their bathroom vanity from there and it's very nice. It looks more $$ than it was..I think she buys most from there, never had a problem.
