EARLY afternoon wedding- question
So I have a wedding next month that starts at 12 noon on a Saturday. I really wanted to wear a cocktail type dress, but now I'm thinking I might look out of place in an "evening wear" type dress since it's so early in the day.
What do you guys think? Should I go with something more casual, or stick with a dress that I'd wear to a Satruday night wedding? (It would be a short dress, not a gown or anything, but maybe a satiny type material etc)

Re: EARLY afternoon wedding- question
I think I would determine my outfit more on the venue than just the time of day. If it was at 12pm and outdoors, I might steer away from a cocktail dress. But if it was at 12pm and in a ballroom of a catering hall, I would totally wear the cocktail dress, KWIM?
Not sure if that helps. For me, I'd always rather be a tad overdressed than underdressed.

I would go by how formal the invite is and the location rather than the time of day. HTH

I think you have to consider the whole package together. Also, is it all in one place?

Re: EARLY afternoon wedding- question
I had my wedding early afternoon on a Sunday at a catering hall. There were women in gowns to women in 'casual' dresses. I think your dress would be fine, you can always not accessorize until you get there and see how fancy everyone else is and add to it if you feel it's appropriate
I really feel 'anything goes' at most weddings. Even that thread about the dress someone here wanted to wear to Oheka, I thought it was fine. I feel like I see the entire spectrum of dressing at every wedding I go to from outdoor park weddings to mansion weddings, people wear whatever.

When in doubt, the "Little Black Dress" is always the perfect choice.
You can dress it up or down depending on your shoes or how you accessorize with jewelry.

Re: EARLY afternoon wedding- question
Thanks Ladies! I just didn't want to be over dressed. The ceremony and reception are both in the same location- and it's a pretty nice catering hall so I think I'll be ok in a cocktail dress... I just won't go overboard on formal looking accessories etc.

Do you watch All My Children? Annie had on a cute dress to day that would be perfect for a more casual summer afternoon reception/wedding that you could dress up or down w/accessories....Let me find a pic......Here's a link, but you can't see it well. It's a short dress that flairs out. I really like itAnnie Image Attachment(s):

Sorry I guess I just assume everybody watches All My Children...Annie is on the right with the orange belt on, but both her's and Kendall's dresses are very cute. I like the shorter flaired style that shoes, hair and accessories can play up or down.
