how early can you send a wedding gift?
Long story short, for various reasons we're sending a registry gift to someone for their wedding. We will be attending the wedding, but do not want to bring the gift with us. The wedding is after the holidays and I want to send the gift in advance of the wedding day. One of the things I would like to buy is on sale for the price range we'd like to spend now. (If it's not on sale, we will have to get them something else.)
What is the earliest you would send a wedding gift for a wedding in January?
If it matters, we already got the wedding invite. Do you think we can send the gift now, or is it way too soon?

hmm, for guests that didn't come, we started receiving wedding gifts about 1-2 months before the wedding.

I think it is fine to send it now if you have RSVP'd already. If not, they might think you are not coming since you already sent a gift.

I think its fine anytime to send a gift.
I don't think you should have to wait, you are giving the gift...you get to decide when you want to send it

Oh good point! LOL
We did send the RSVP today, so they'll have it this week. It will arrive before the gift.

I know we received several gifts before our wedding... I just couldn't remember when. It's about 2 months out from the wedding now. I'd just like to send it now while we can get them what I'd like to send, rather than wait and have to give something else.

I never thought about it like that. This does make sense!

Re: how early can you send a wedding gift?
I think you can send it now. Our wedding was in December, and we started to get gifts in October. We made the choice at the time to not open them and wait to send thank you notes. In retrospect, I wish we had sent the notes out as soon as we got the gifts.

I think as soon as you get the invite you can send it, we started receiving gifts pretty quickly! Why not? So go for it!

You can def. send it now. No need to wait. I think if you wait until Dec. it might get lost/delayed with all the shipments for the holidays.

Re: how early can you send a wedding gift?
we got wedding gifts months before our wedding. i didn't necessarily think that if someone sent a gift early, that meant they weren't coming. i would send it now and save a few bucks.
ETA: one of my BMs ordered a wedding gift for me 3 months before the wedding and it got backordered several times. we didn't get it until after the wedding. so you never know what can happen. the earlier, the better IMO.

Re: how early can you send a wedding gift?
if you got the wedding invite, then I think it's totally fine to send a gift. I'm sure other guests that got the invite and are planning on sending a gift will start to do so now as well.

Re: how early can you send a wedding gift?
as long as the shower has already passed. i would send it now. i wouldn't want any confusion surrounding whether it's a shower or wedding gift.

I wouldn't be invited to the shower so there won't be any confusion.

Re: how early can you send a wedding gift?
I'd send it now with a gift note saying "best wishes for your marriage, can't wait to see you on your big day" or something along those lines.
Last year, I sent a wedding gift from the couple's registry about two months in advance. Their place settings were on sale BOGO, so I ended up getting twice as many for my budget. They didn't mind getting their gift in advance!

i got stuff a few weeks after sending out the invites which was almost 3 months prior. I didn't think it was odd or anything, I was excited!! it meant the wedding was coming close!

Re: how early can you send a wedding gift?
You could always say something in the card like "one less thing to carry home on your big day! We can't wait!" something to that effect explains a reason why you've sent and that you are still coming.. just a suggestion
