Re: Opinions on these 3 towns
My vote is for Garden City, simply because I LOVE that area! The houses are gorgeous, the area is really safe and you are near SO many stores you need!
East Williston is nice, but the properties are on the smaller size and the houses are very close together. It's a crowded area, with main roads that aren't all too appealing (well, compared to GC that is). You will be close to some sketchy areas of Mineola as well.
I am not too familiar with RC, but know that it is a busy area with everything you could possibly need as well.

Re: Opinions on these 3 towns
I lived in RVC (rented) for about 4 years and i absolutely love that town. If we could've afforded to live there when we bought our house, we absolutely would have but the houses and taxes were just too high.
I loved the abundance and variety of bars/restaurants, the train station is always clean and there's plenty of parking. They take good care of the town also. Schools there are supposed to be really good as well. Only negative was the parking on the street rules. No parking anywhere on the streets between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. So you have to make sure you have a driveway that accommodates multiple cars.
good luck!

Re: Opinions on these 3 towns
All are nice areas with good schools. The one thing I would consider - if you are commuting into the city, RVC probably has the best LIRR service, followed by Garden City. Garden City has a few train stops in the village, though, so parking at a station might be better in Garden City (not sure about that, though.) The line that goes through East Williston is not the best service and for the prices of the houses and the taxes, I would want to live on a better train line.

Re: Opinions on these 3 towns
All three are so different, it depends on what you are looking for -
Garden City is a beautiful town. Great for families and of course close the mall. But the city is strict on when you can park on the street, what type of lights you can have on your house during the holidays, etc. You might want to research this some more.
East Williston is a sweet, quaint town. Beautiful houses but with small properties. Conveniently close to the Northern State and the LIE and great shops on Hillside Ave.
Rockville Centre is beautiful, with great access to restaurants and nightlife. But because of it's location, is not the most convenient for a lot of people.

Re: Opinions on these 3 towns
RVC is a great town with an incredible school district. The train line is great for commuting and the village has tons of shops and restaurants...parking can be tough sometimes but not as bad as Queens and LB.
Garden City is gorgeous as well.
I don't know anything about East Williston, sorry.

We looked at all 3 of these areas, and our vote goes to GC hands down for a list of reasons.

Re: Opinions on these 3 towns
Rockville Centre has a number of school districts - just check out which one a house is zoned for.
Garden City is beautiful. We didn't look for a home there because there is some insane wealth in that village. Driving past the high school, the parking lot is packed with BMW's, Mercedes Benz's and the like.
East Williston is beautiful as well. There are some gorgeous homes there. I believe it's quite small - but I could be wrong.
My sister lives in Lynbrook and loves it. The town has a charming main street, excellent schools, and the houses are really varied and lovely. The commute to the city is manageable as well.
