Village vs. Non Village
We are currently looking for houses in Massapequa and Massapequa Park. We haven't had any lluck but we found a house we like in MP but it is not in the village. What's the difference? Should we just keep looking?

Re: Village vs. Non Village
I've always been curious about the perks of living in a village vs. non village. DH and I bought a house that is not incorporated into a village, and so far we haven't noticed a big difference. Our kids will be going to school in the same district as the village kids, and even though the village doesn't pick up our garbage...the town does. The only thing I don't get which I wish I did was a parking sticker for the train station. What I like most is that the taxes are cheaper!

Re: Village vs. Non Village
There are pros and cons to living in a village.
Con: You pay more in taxes!
Pro: We have private beaches we can go to, Village picks up the garbage. I'm sure there are other pluses, but I can't think of any right now.

Beyond being able to park at the Massapequa Park train station... there are no perks that I can think of to living in one vs. the other. Massapequa Park has no beaches that I can think of either.

Yep, I agree. No perks at all. We just pay more in taxes.

Re: Village vs. Non Village
With those 2 towns there is only a tax difference. In my village we have our own police, mayor, etc and it is much better IMO then living in a non village. The police are here in 2 secs if you need them, our village is kept beautiful because if the mayor and the board. It is worth the extra taxes we pay for our village.
