spinoff to the sh aving before pedicure post

That post got me thinking about nail salon cleanliness, especially with those big tubs you soak you feet in ....

Do you ladies think making the first appointment of the day would make a big difference in cleanliness? You think for the most part these places do a deep cleaning at the end of the day? Chat Icon

Most places i go to disinfect the pedicure tub right after its used.

My biggest concern is with their nail cutters, cuticle nippers, those UV lights dont do anything.

I found an amazing place that sends all their equipment to be sterilized, each time i am there they open a new pack for me, which has all the tools in it including file and buffer.
Its like the gyno when they open the speculum from that pack so you know its clean.

I have been to many places and this is the only one i have found that does this.

My place cleans the tubs out between each person too, but I thought maybe at the end of the day it's a deeper cleaning..... who knows Chat Icon

Well, I have often been the last customer of the day and I see them doing a final cleaning of the tubs but I wouldn't say that the tubs are totally disinfected. I think it is a bit more thorough than what they do in between customers but I still feel like all pedicures have some risk. I get them done anyway. I used to bring my own cuticle nippers but I guess I fell out of that habit.

I was recently wondering if there will be some blood test that will someday find that a huge percentage of people who have had salon pedicures carry a specific bacteria or virus.

I don't shave right b/f a pedicure b/c there was a show in 20/20 or something a long time ago about your pores being open and a fungus travelling to nail salons.
So I either don't shave or try to remember to do it the night b/f.

There is a place near my office that opens up a new pack everytime you go. I was loving it until I saw them repacking them.
SO...I just try to get to the same place all the time b/c I have box. Each time you go, they mark off the date and after a certain amount of appts you get a "prize". I keep my tools from home in the box.

Or some ladies I see at the nail place bring their supplies with them.

In Oceanside?

I was out there yesterday and got a pedi from a new place in Oceanside that was using BRAND new stuff on everyone, I was totally impressed.

I dont live in the area but it was nice to see.
