How bad is this...she is a year and 2 months old and we still have not gotten her spayed...we really need to get on this

our dog is a year and a half and i think he just stopped growing and filling out, his chest really broadened that past couple months. i was told to wait until he is completely filled out stopped growing b4 he gets neutured. now i am not sure we even want to neuter him.......
