Re: when to start registering?

what i personally did was any time i saw a thread on here about something to register for (anything, strollers, bottles, etc)...i bookmarked it (though i did start that as soon as i got to the PG board).

Around 13 weeks, i signed up BRU and BBB and started 'placemarking' things...to research in detail later. One thing i also LOVED about BRU is that they have ratings from moms on their site...

Once i got Baby Bargains, i started going hard core and ruling out some of those placemarkers...and adding others.

I sent my registries to close mommy friends and they all critiqued it and at 20 weeks, i can now say i'm confidently FINISHED....

eta: i have to admit that i'm OVERLY insane about research.....

because of the time frame right now....you may want to hang on until the end of January (so that the 2009 models/patterns) can come out...but again - for now - it can't hurt to start marking things (adding them to your registry for the time being)... There was a time when i had like 4 strollers, 3 car seats, etc...

Re: when to start registering?

I waited until I was 24 weeks.

I also wasn't going to be having a shower, so I wasn't in any rush to register.

Re: when to start registering?

I found registering to be VERY overwhelming so what I started doing was reading the baby bargains book and as I read registering online for things. BRU has some stuff, BBB has other stuff, they both also have different styles for the same item. I found that BBB had alot of the big things I wanted to register for in the store so that was helpful because BRU has a $50 shipping on most of the big items. I would say take your time--I started in November I would say and just finished a week or so ago. It took a few trips to each store and doing alot of research on baby bargains and speaking to other mothers.

Re: when to start registering?

I am 12 weeks and started already. Mainly the bigger items that I know we need. With my first 7 years ago, I was put on bedrest around 7 months, so I am being overly cautious.

Re: when to start registering?

im waiting until my level 2. Once i find out the sex, im going to start registering little by little. Ive been researching strollers, carseats, pack and plays since i was about 12 weeks. So i could just have an idea whats out there. And after this month all the new models will be out. I hope that helps!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: when to start registering?

I'm about 5 wks and I just started. Only for 2 things though - 1 for a huge play yard that is like the playpens we had as kids. The other was for a bath because everyone was saying how good that one was. As I see threads on certain items I will probably add those as well.

ETA: Knowing my parents they will probably start getting these things for "holidays" like Easter, my Bday etc..
I'd rather baby things now than anything for me.

Re: when to start registering?

I waited until my 20 week appt. to register. I wanted to make sure everything was okay with the baby. I read the baby bargin book before going. I think I went to the store around 23 weeks. Plus, you don't want to go to early. Things start to get discontinued.

Re: when to start registering?

I'm probably going to start soon, but only because I'll be on bedrest from 20 weeks on. I want to be able to walk through the store and scan what we need.
I'm 12 weeks....

Re: when to start registering?

I just began looking at BRU and doing some research and I am 15 weeks. I plan on actually going to register once I know the sex of the baby.
