Now I have a temping question

Is it hard? I am not thinking I want to go out and buy OPK's every month but temping looks like a lot of work. Is it confusing or does it take time to get used to it?

Re: Now I have a temping question

It's pretty simple - but to be perfectly honest, after a few months I found it very annoying. It ended up stopping me from sleeping well because I'd wake up worried about missing my temping time - then become frustrated when I temped too early!

Also, it's a good way to CONFIRM O, but not to predict it. You'd still need some other form of ovulation detection - at least at first.

Re: Now I have a temping question

The hardest part is being consistent. It works best if you temp the same time each morning. I found it be to very helpful when I was TTC for my baby. I read taking charge of your fertility to learn more about it, and charted on fertility friend.com. I did get pg on month 2 of trying, so I think the info helped me. Good luck.

Re: Now I have a temping question

I started Temping this month just to see what it would be like and my Temp keeps going up every day I am on CD10. I am not sure if I will both doing it next month, just testing it out and waking up at 6:30 just to take you temp- sucks.

Re: Now I have a temping question

I have been temping for over a year now. I really like it because it gives me a sense of control, and I really like seeing and knowing what is going on with my body.

As MAM said, you cant predict when you are going to ovulate by temping alone (although the longer you do it, the more you know about your body), but OPK's don't confirm that you ovulated just that there is a surge.

There are plenty of tempers on this site, so please feel free to ask any questions.

ITA! i've been doing it for about 3 months now and i love knowing exactly what is going on just by taking my temp. i am not TTC yet, but i've when I am i'll have a better idea of when i'm about to ovulate since it helps me stay in "tune" with my cycle. also i hear the OPKs can get pricey after a while.

Re: Now I have a temping question

It's not hard but I'll be honest it is a pain. This is my first month doing it. The worst is waking up early on the weekends because I have a hard time going back to sleep. I will see after this month if it is worth continuing! If I get a nice looking chart I probably will.

Re: Now I have a temping question

I tempted with fertility friend for 20 cycles before I got pregnant with ds. It became second nature. Alarm goes off, pop thermometer in mouth when it beeps take it out and get up and ready for work.

I like temping becasue it gives me a sense of what is going on with my body, but I agree with MAM that I have been waking up early or in the middle of the night to make sure I dont miss my temping time.
