CLomid questions

Im supposed to start clomid today for days 4-8. Im still bleeding a little from AF..i would guess its still ok to take clomid if thats the case..

my other question is..i see everyone mentioning getting sono's and bloodwork while on clomid..but my GYN has not mentioned this at all. Just that im supposed to take it days 4-8, (was supposed to do an HSG test on day 9 but couldnt get it scheduled with the hospital) and then an IUI on day 13.

are sonograms necessary when taking clomid..if so im calling the dr. first thing Monday morning!!

Re: CLomid questions

Yes they are! How else is your Dr. going to know for sure do to an IUI on CD13? There's a chance you could be nowhere near close to ovulating on CD13, and if that's the case, the IUI won't do a thing.

Do you ovulate on your own normally? What's the reason for the Clomid?

Re: CLomid questions

Yes..i ovulate on my own. the first SA test showed motility issues on DH's part. Im having another one done this week b/c I believe we damaged the sample in transport..so just to be sure. But he can very well have motility issues which is why they suggested to start with the IUI and go for it.

I asked the dr. why take the clomid if i dont ovulate on day 14 normally. (Normally i ovulate later) but she said the clomid will force ovulation??

Im confused thats for sure Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: CLomid questions

Clomid doesn't force ovulation.

My first two cycles on Clomid I didn't ovulate at all.

My next 4 cycles of Clomid, I had to have a shot (hcg) to force ovulation once the follicle(s) were mature. Only way to know for sure when that is, is by doing sono's and to have bloodwork done to see if you are surging. And for me, I never surged on Clomid until anywhere between CD20-CD22. (I also took Clomid CD3-7).

Taking clomid does not gaurantee you will ovulate, and doesn't gaurantee you will ovulate on CD14.

I think it would be okay to start the Clomid toady, and call when your office opens (probably not until Tuesday).

Just make sure they are monitoring you via ultrasound and b/w throughout your cycle. They'll need to see how if/when you ovulate and how your uterine lining is.

Re: CLomid questions

thanks!

I also spoke to my old GYN (who is actually a nurse/midwife and i love her to death)..i have her home # since she left the practice i used to go to in brooklyn.

She said its ok to take the clomid and that they will probably do a sono on day of the IUI..and probably bloodwork afterwards to monitor. whew..I will call tomorrow or tuesday to make sure..

she left the convo off with the more stressed you are your body will know. nothing throws off cycles like stress. Which i know..but sometimes its so hard to stop my mind from wandering to all the what ifs??

So really, my goal is to think positively and not worry too much. Im so wound up all the time.
