How did you narrow down who to pick ...
Im so torn between who to chose for godmother. Godfather was easy as i was able to choose my bil. Godmother is more difficult. I feel so conflicted between my 2 best friends. I would say ok im not going to choose either but i dont have anyone else i could ask. So what criteria are you using to narrow down?

honestly, we choose family member first. We are using siblings so it wasn't so hard.

same here...and one sibling is already a godparent, so it will be the other one.
but if you don't have siblings, that's harder. honestly, it's hard to choose between your friends, but if it were me, i would choose the one that was a practicing Catholic...or perhaps the one that is more "spiritual" or "religious." for me, I want the godparent to have a role in their religious upbringing where possible.

Very good points which i have given a lot of thought to. One friend is catholic with all her sacraments but doesnt go to church weekly and all. Other friend is protestant and doesnt go to church either. Oh the decisions just get harder i see

DH have already lined up our godparents for baby #2 & #3 and we will be using our friends, but same as the above poster, these friends are Catholic and also local. That actually narrowed down our list a lot.

Re: How did you narrow down who to pick ...
I wanted to make sure the Godparents we picked were going to be permanent fixtures in my babys life. That they would love my child as it was their own, and someone that both DH and I felt were people my baby could go to if they couldnt come to us.

Re: How did you narrow down who to pick ...
godmother is actually the easier one since it would be my sister, godfather is harder b/c DH has 4 brothers. He was just picked to be godfather to his younger brother's daughter, so perhaps we'd pick his older brother. I think I'll have to leave it up to him....its going to be a tough choice!

Re: How did you narrow down who to pick ...
We only picked family members, but it was hard b.c we both have brothers, so my brother will be the godfather for our first and my bil will be the godfather to our second. And our cousin will be the god mother since neither of us have a sister

We are only choosing siblings with our first child. I only have my brother, so he will be the godfather. My husband gets to chose godmother, which will be his only sister.

Re: How did you narrow down who to pick ...
I have no siblings or even cousins. DH only has one brother and wasn't picking him (long story).
We asked friends who had been a part of our lives for a long time who we knew would love the baby and be there for him. I used to go to church with the Godmother and found that somewhat symbolic.
For #2 we will also go the family friend route.

Re: How did you narrow down who to pick ...
I don't have any siblings so the godfather will be my best friend. His wife had a baby in Oct and I am the godmother to their daughter. My DH wanted a friend to be the godmother so that was an easy choice first. We wanted to go with non family members.

Same here. For DS it's my sister and my BIL.
We already know who we are asking for and it's family.
