LP question

From my understanding is that a woman's LP does not vary. The day they ovulate does, but not the LP. Well mine does, and by more then just a day or two. Some months is a shorter LP like 7 days one time it was 15 days, but only once.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on what might be causing this? Do you think i should be concerned?

Re: LP question

I just read this in taking charge of your fertility. It does say that the luteal phase may vary by a day or 2, but its not normal to change every month.

maybe a hormonal imbalance is going on thats causing the variation. I wouldnt be alarmed, but I would mention it to my dr. at the next visit.

Re: LP question

a LP of 7 is cause for an OB appointment. That is not long enough to sustain a pregnancy Chat Icon

Re: LP question

7 days is definitely a concern. Call your doc.

8-9 days however is considered okay...mine were never longer than 8 days (topping out at 9 once) and my pregnancy has been going okay.

I'd definitely see your doctor - just because the LP is varying so much. It shouldn't vary by more than about 1 day in either direction.

I've ovulated as early as CD 13 and as late as CD 26, but my LP has always been 13 or 14 days.

Re: LP question

i would talk to your doctor if your LP is varying by that much.

but about short LPs in general- if you have a short one and you're having trouble conceiving, the LP may be the culprit. but just because you have a short LP does NOT mean that you will have trouble conceiving. mine is definitely on the short side and it wasn't a problem for me. there are some women for whom a short LP is a variant of normal.
