Could having a c-section delay conception
This is something I've been thinking abotu lately. You always hear about scar tissue with c-sections and I was wondering if people who have had previous c-sections have a harder time getting pregnant the second time around?
Anyone have any info on this?

yes, my doctor told me that it is POSSIBLE that scar tissue can build up and block your tubes
she had told me if clomid did not work in 3 cycles, she would do a HSC (??) test to see if my tubes were blocked....it is where they inject dye into you to look for blockages
I would talk to your OB if you have not already

My dr mentioned the same thing. I have yet to go to the HSG test though. I had the PCT and found out I have hostile CM- fun, right! If the IUI does not work, he will have me try that next. Who knows, maybe its my c-section fault ( I just look to blame anything, huh! LOL)

If you think about it, it could play a part but not likley cause infertiltiy. Say you did develop scar tissue where the incision is and the egg went to implant there, there might be a small chance the lining would be affected. But I think that the possibility of hte egg trying to implant in the exact same spot every cycle is low so it might just take longer. I think a miscarriage would be more likley (if it did implant but then was not able to attache properly due to the scar tissue).
This is NOT based on any scientific research though, just my reasoning- for whatever that is worth

I experienced secondary infertility and of course it crossed my mind because I had a c-section. But my HSG showed that my tubes were perfectly clear

Funny thing is...I delivered Lucas vaginally yet it crossed my mind that something might have happened since we are having such a hard time.

no, not scar tissue where the incision is, scar tissue which blocks your tube, hence inhibiting the egg's chance of flowing freely through the tube

i am confused - i am not a doctor, but i thought your fallopian tubes were near the top of your uterus, and the scar from a c-section is at the bottom... how would scar tissue form there?
i hope that doesn't sound snarky i am truly curious!!

Cesarean sections are becoming more and more popular, with many women electing to have c-sections instead of vaginal births. Typically, c-sections are a safe and viable birthing option. My sister in law had the Gastric bypass surgery shes had a lot of scar tissue she had one c -section and she says it hurts but she having another baby. shes due Feb 2.shes having another c-section. But she got pg right after she started trying

I had a c/s..
so far we've been TTC a year....
I had the HSG and all is clear but I do think I have adhesions b/c every since having c/s I have painful ovuations.. and I have never had them before.
I have had every test known to man besides the HSG... Cat Scans, sonograms- all while ovulating and they don't see anything..
They think I have adhesions and there is really nothing they can do.,

I'm suprised my RE hadn't mentioned this to me. We got PG with DD no problem but now we've been trying for 14 months. I had a c/s with DD. I guess I'll bring it up at my next appointment.
