Re: Do you think it would be rude to write that we prefer no baby clothes on my registry message?
I never even knew there was a message. One would think that if they are printing out your registry, they plan on getting things from your selections.
It may be weird to see it printed on an invite. I personally do not think it's rude to write it in a registry message. That's what it's for.
You should have no problem exchanging any clothes for things you want and besides, it's always cute to hold up the baby clothes for the oohs and ahhhs! It's the highlight of some of our aunts days!

yes I would...if people get you a gift...you should be grateful for whatever they get you...
most people give you a receipt...just return it.

Definately tacky I would not hesitate to have whomever throws your shower to remind everyone with the strict return policies that they please include a gift reciept in case of return. I think that is still ok.

Re: Do you think it would be rude to write that we prefer no baby clothes on my registry message?
you can write whatever you want. but people will buy whatever they want.
but honestly, you need clothes for the baby. you can't bring a baby out in a onesie until summer time. you will need outfits and jackets for winter and spring.
i had a summer baby and he wore onesies for 2 months. but at night and when it was cooler, he was in outfits (usually carters soft clothes). once fall hit he was in onesies and pants (or a cute outfit--jeans, etc) every day AND a blanket or bundle me. your baby will be too cold in just a onesie even in the house. his limbs will need to be covered.
and he won't be able to go in the bouncer, etc with a blanket.
just something to think about
