I'm a fan of traditional, women-only showers. You get more "oohs and ahhs" with women. Men are like, DUH!

Re: another Shower q: unisex?
originally i was thinking of doing this (a jack and jill shower) b/c i figured it could just be a backyard bbq/party (just like our e-party). But the other day, out of nowhere, DH said to me "we're not gonna have one of those boy/girl parties, are we?!"
I had no idea what he was talking about. I tried to find out if he still thought girls had cooties, or was afraid that boys would be standing against one wall, girls against the other, with an empty dance floor....
Then i realized he was talking about a jack and jill baby shower, so No... we're not having one.

I like the traditional women only. Though since the shower is being held at my house DH will be in basement with dog enjoying his big screen tv. lol

Mine wouldn't go. He would laugh if I brought it up. I can't blame him to much as Im not a fan of showers either. I dreaded my bridal shower and only had it to shut up my mom. I had no baby shower, for numerous reasons this being one of them.

Re: another Shower q: unisex?
This is my thing re: showers - You attend b/c you're olbigated adn you love your friend/family member and want to be supportive, see them, celebrate etc etc. - But I can think of a million 'more fun' ways to do that other than the traditional shower where you sit, eat, and watch everyone open gifts - KWIM?
No one really WANTS to spend their Saturday/Sunday afternoon watching someone open a million gifts and oohing and aahing - They're painful enough for ME, I would NOT subject DH, or his friends to it as well ........

Re: another Shower q: unisex?
dave will be there with me only because i have a severe attention issue - so his helping open things will take attention away from me (he did it with my bridal shower too, GOD i love him)..
my dad and my second dad (my best friends' dad) will be there, but i'd think most other men would rather learn to crochet than be there...which is why i opted for mostly women and kids only.

Re: another Shower q: unisex?
I can tell you from listening to male friends/co-workers, men HATE going to baby showers.
I've even heard a few comments from male colleagues saying the only reason males recently are getting invited is so that the couple could get double the gifts. It made it sound like the couple was being greedy. (This is what I heard from others, not my opinion at all.)

Re: another Shower q: unisex?
I had men at my bridal shower--it was more of a fun jack and jill, bbq type of thing and everyone had a great time. Unfortunately the men in my life denied me this time around. They want nothing to do w/ a baby shower. That's ok though it will be a nice day just w/ the ladies.

Mine was a co-ed backyard BBQ and I loved it. I threw a similar shower for my friend, and she and the guests loved it.

do you think its okay if I invite my one really good gay guy friend? Of course! I actually had 2 of my gay friends there....they did not join the other guys watching TV, and one even played Vanna White as I was opening gifts.
