Speaking of Binkies...

Will you be a binky supporter? Dh asked me this the other day, "are you going to be a binkie mom?" I was like, *** does that mean? lol...

Really though... do you plan on plugging your baby with one asap, or will you wait?

I picked up a two-pack of binkies today, and realized that there are specific sizes for specific ages. Whoa!!! Is anything simple when it comes to baby products? The binkies I picked up are Gerber and they are for 6+month olds... I didn't see any for newborns...

Does it *really* matter if I give my newborn this binkie, or should I wait to find one specifically for newborns?

Ugh, so confusing! Chat Icon

(to answer my own question, yes, I will be a binkie mom if the baby takes to it.)

i read about this in baby bargains last night....they mentioned not to do it right away so that the baby learns to latch properly to your nipple at first...

if you don't have the book - let me know - i can type out the whole section for you (i type like 100wpm) - so it won't take long!

ooooh! ooooh! I have that book!!!! Maybe I'd better whip it out and refer to it...

That makes total sense! I mean, unless my nips continue to grow to the size of a binkie the next two weeks (which is DEFINITELY a possibility...) Chat Icon

Re: Speaking of Binkies...

DS loves his binky...I gave it to him whenever he wanted or took it for maybe 5 or 6mos and ever since then he only gets it in his crib (naps & bedtime). He is 16mos old now and I see no harm in letting him sleep with it, especially with his teeth coming in. Every morning before we come downstairs, when I take him out of the crib, hes usually got it in his mouth and I say "throw binky in the cribby" and he does it...and thats where it stays! I suppose one day I'll have to break the habit but at least its just a night time habit!

Thanks for the replies!

Does the size written on the binkie package *really* matter though? I bought binkies that said 6+ month on the package...

Yes, the nipples on those binkies are HUGE, way too big for a newborn. You need the newborn ones.
