I wasn't planning on using one at least at the beginning, but DS ended up in the NICU and they use soothies. DS loves the soothie.

I've been using the Nuk ones off and on and he seems to like them. He doesn't seem totally dependent yet on them though.........he just prefers being fed little piggy.

I go both ways on this. I personally hate them. BUT if its going to get us all sleep I will give it a shot.
